Don't know about the Testor's paint but I've decanted Tamiya lacquers into film-jars and kept them for months without any problems. If they get a little thick over time you just thin them with some lacquer thinner and it's ready to use again. Try to get the cans from Fuji-film, the transparent ones, the lids on them snaps in place and holds very tight.

Edit:

Came to think about something, before you put on the lid for good on the jar. Take one and poke a little hole in it. Put on some silly putty as a safety valve so that the lid wan't pop off when the paint gasses out. Let it be like this over night and then you can put on a lid without a hole in it.

Thanks for the answer Dave.  I have decanted paint before, but never stored it for a any number of days.  What my question was is if I decant the entire can into a jar, use some of it in my airbrush, put it up for a day or two until the initial coat dries, then get it out of the jar into the airbrush again, will it dry up or act like a normal jar of model master paint for example.

Thanks for the answer in advance.

Things could be worse. Suppose your errors were counted and published every day, like those of a baseball player. Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off... the right pitch will come, but when it does, be prepared to run the bases.

I cut a drinking straw in half and slide it around the opening in the nozzle. Spray it against the side of a cup. Don't let the straw go into the paint or it splatters all over the place. I let it sit for a few minutes to let the propellents escape and then just put it in my airbrush. I never had any problems with it getting thick or any problems with it. I've been doing this for quite a while. I really stink at painting with a spray can.

Try a test shot first if you've never done it before.

Hey everyone,

I normally build 1/48 aircraft, but a lady at work asked me to build her a '67 chevelle and paint it Malibu Blue with Black interior.  I picked up a can of testors Nassau Blue Metallic and that is the closest match I can come up with.  As far as using the paint though, I'd like to decant it into a clean Jar and cap it off.  Will the paint hold up inside the jar or will it begin drying?  Will I have to decant the paint before each coat I put on or can I just spray it into the jar all at once and use it as I need it?

I'm afraid to spray it in and have it gunk up on me in the bottle.

Thanks for the help in advance!
