DIORAMA KITS
Posted by FL157 on Friday, May 9, 2008 1:45 AM
First off I want to thank everybody who read my last post about painting the bodys of model cars. I got alot of good tips and I now cant decide which method I like better. Anyway, I have seen pictures of peoples dioramas and have no idea where to look for these kits. If anybody knows of good websites to purchase diorama kits or suggestions on how to build them from scratch, please, feel free to share. Thanks again.

Detailmaster.com has some neat diorama accessories--see "R&D Unique", "SEL",  and especially "SMBC" on the list on the left of the page.

R$D UNique has old gasoline pumps. SEL has tables, workbenches, brooms, all kinds of accessories. SMBC has whole garage kits, NASCAR track sections, and large tool chests. Everything you need is there to let your imagination run wild!

Thank you!!! I just ordered the three car garage from smbc.com. That is now my favorite website. I have a garage diorama that came from Japan. Its interesting, considering the directions are in Japanize. Thank god there were english instructions as well. I have it all together, but its pretty small. The size of a mouse pad, literally. Now I am working on a landscape in my backyard to put the two dioramas. Try to give it the outdoors look. Anyway, thanks again and if anybody has any suggestions please dont be shy.

Glad to hear it!

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention as well to check out Scale Equipment LTD at http:/seltd.net/ as well, for some great accessories and other garage kits--type in "garage" into their search engine there, and you won't believe all the stuff that comes up!

All of Doog's suggestions are spot on.  I would just like to add two things.  One is curbside dioramics makes a ton of diorama accessories as well.  Also Fujimi has a garage/shop set that is still in production.  My LHS has several in stock for 22.50, and my LHS by the way ALSO does mail order.  Bridgetown Hobby and Game in Portland Oregon.
