Revell 1971 Hemi Cuda - Phantasm Movie Inspired...
Posted by SCIGONE on Friday, May 16, 2008 1:39 PM

I have been out of the hobby for about 8 years and recently got the bug once again. I have never put together a car model before and this is my first one. I was inspired to put together this Hemi model based on the ones from the movie series Phantasm. Which happens to be one of my all time favorite horror movies.

One thing I have learned is that working with gloss paint - it is not as easy as flat colors. I still have a lot to learn when it comes to building cars. - I am more of a military model builder.

Enjoy

Cool looking cuda, man!

I hear you about the gloss paints! UGH! I do mostly armor myself, but am working on a 69 SUper Bee in yellow--man, that is a hard color to do in gloss!

I hope mine comes out as good as yours!

One thing though--I would polish it and maybe wax it--I see alot of fingerprints on an otherwise nice smooth finish!

Thanks - I plan on going back and cleaning up the turn signal edges etc. Then polish it up..

The Phantasm figures are made by Neca Cult Classics you can find them on eBay for less than 20 bucks. I'm guessing they are made from a vinyl compound.

Here is a link of an online store selling them:

That is one fine looking 'Cuda.  Gloss paint is a b---- after doing mostly flat stuff, aint it.  You did really good on this one, so keep them coming.

Excellent look car.  Good paint.  Black is a PITA to get to come out right.
