Hasegawa 1/144 Embraer 170 in US Airways livery COMPLETE
Posted by keavdog on Sunday, May 19, 2019 10:21 PM

Just about to start a 1/144 Embraer 170 in US Airways livery from Draw decals but the blue isnt specifically called out.  Anyone know a specific manufacturer match?  DRAW says dark navy blue.

Thanks,

John

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Thanks.  That was helpful.  Ran down an internet rat hole and ended up ordering MR Color 326 FS 15044.  Looks close enough. Cheers!

Thanks,

John

So thanks for the tips on color - I got started on this gem of a kit.  The fit is really nice - these Hasegawa 1/144 kits are amazing.  I'm doing this one wheels up - though I forgot to bore out the hole for the stand... minor issue.  The decals are from DRAW which are fantastic but require a bit of finess and careful trimming as they are continuous film.

Thanks,

John

Really looking great, can’t wat to see it finished.

I have a question though...where are these kits? I didn’t even know about this one. Searching I only see them on that evil auction site for seventy bucks. I need to get one now To go with my Revell 190.

A few steps forward and one back.  Got it all primered and color on.  I used low-tack blue masking tape to mask of broad areas.  Never any issues, but I'm using a new brand of paint - Hataka voodoo grey which is close to boeing gray.  Really tough to get the tape off and damaged the paint/left adhesive residue behind.  Pretty sure I let this dry a couple days, but in the future I'm going to let it cure for a week.  Anyhow - need to fix this and polish the paint a bit.

Thanks,

John

Looks like a nice build! Is this the type that went down in the river in New York?

Thanks Andy.  Cleaning up the mistakes currently.  Sully's plane was an Airbus A320 if that's the crash you're referring to. It was a US Airways plane though.

Thanks,

Cleaned up the issues a bit - still need a bit of touch up here and there.   Put on a clear coat a couple days ago and started decals.  Man, I really like Draw decals, but working with the full length stripe, windows, lettering with these decals is a bit unnerving.  I'm like the   result though I couldn't get the stripes to line up on the nose and the aft part of the plane so I'll be touching that up.  Progress!

Thanks,

John

One of the things I have noticed with long stripes of Draw Decals is that they stretch when I use setting solutions (not solvents but just the setting solutions}.  So I have learned not to use anything but water on the stripes.

Well - a very nice kit.  Ran into some issues I've never seen before due to a new paint, but putting this one on the shelf.  Sure like the scheme and the airframe

Thanks,

John
