I have an idea I want to try- not as funny as a bird, but fun anyway.

I got the idea from the many turboprop conversions I have seen- but no jet versions!  The idea is to take a DC-3 kit and a DC-9 kit, and mount the -9 nacelles over the wings to make a jet version.

 

 go watch "Fate is the Hunter"....they look to have taken a DC-7 and added jets to the horizontal stab...

When I first got back to the states and moved here, everyonce in a while I would see a DC-3 fuselage with the wings and tail removed and turned into a motor home.  The rear had been cut back and they put a small platform with a couple chairs and a rack for a couple spare tires outside the railing.  I haven't seen it in a long time, but it was a sight to see.  I've been thinking about doing a model of it ever since but never got around to it.

When I was 17 or so, I decided that the wings of my completed Revell B-25 Mitchell bomber were too long. It would look better, I decided, if I cut about two inches off each wing. It looked not just better, but faster, and definitely cooler! It was sort of an early, non-jet version of the stubby-winged F-104 Starfighter.

       I did that many times as a kid when I just had a bunch of broken parts. I did one that way - a DC-3 with fat tires and two pods from a B-52, looked neat-I thought.
