American Civil War dio
Posted by Highlander242 on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 6:53 PM

Hello,

I am in the process of sculpting a ACW dio and here are some in progress shots.  Not sure how many figures it will have but I am guessing at least 10.

Thanks for looking,

Joe

Wow! I was wondering, did you buy the heads? And how do you sculpt bodies? I cannot for the life of me do bodies...

senojrn and Mike,

Thanks.  Mike, nice to see you as well.  I am not sure if the whole thing will be done but I am also working on another single figure that might make it.  What are you up to these days?

I use stock heads but I will then change them up.  I do the bodies by adding a small layer of putty to form the body shape then dress it with the other putty.  Here are a few examples of how I do it.

That's really interesting. I'll be checking on updates. Very Cool. What scale do you generally model?

Highlander, WOW!  Very nice work on your figure-AMAZING work!  What do you use for the upper torso/shoulders and the pelvis?  It looks like they are pre-made.  What scale are these and where do you find the stock heads, hands and feet?

Thank you all.  I have been kinda slow but hopefully will have some updates soon.

I work in 54 mm, that is 1/32nd scale.  The torso and pelvis are pre made castings.  I had a friend of mine who did them.  I use Histores hands and will also sculpt my own.  The heads come from several different sources.  I have used SHENANDOAH MINIATURES, HISTOREX/NEMROD, ELISENA, ANDREA, PEGASO and a few others.  Here are some links to them.

Thank you! Thumbs Up [tup] great job! Since Star Wars stuff is so rare, I need to make my own figure bodies for a couple projects. I must say, your figure modeling/painting skills are awesome! Bow [bow]
