Yeah, I can understand that- you are a music major right? I understand the schedules for you guys are crazy. My class load is pretty light, my personal life is a little strange right now and I'm lucky if I can find the time to sleep

Very cool, I think if I ever try the decal approach though, it'll probably be some kinda custom work that I'd photoshop onto some decal paper- but thanks for the tip smeagol- how's your college GB project coming along?

Tongue [:P]Thanks Stern0- yeah I had a hard time finding a tut- so I just made up my own! Glad you liked it. I think the most popular figures that'd have some would be the old time salors and the like- that'd be cool to see!

Yeah modelchasm, you're right- they're 1/24 scale. I think for 1/35 a decal would be a much better idea- didn't even think of that! But yeah, for larger scales (because I wasn't going for much detail in the tattoo) the paint worked out fine. I have a 1/1 tattoo up my right leg that's about the same size (well... if scaled at 1/24 too ) as the piece on this guys right arm. I know most are small, but college town skater kids can get crazy and I've seen some pretty cool sleaves etc.

For a soldier or someone along those lines, yeah- if in full uniform, definitly covered. haha what's your OIF soldier got 5 pieces of under there? Laugh [(-D]

Maybe printing something out on decal sheet? That might make things a little more clear. However, if these are 1/35 .... which actually they look 1/24? Are they? regardless, just remember that most tattoos aren't HUGE. So in these scales they're going to be a little more suttle I think. But, it's all about what you're going for.

Hmmm.... interesting. Never tried showing tattoos ... my OIF figure has five of them, but ahhh, darn-it .... they're hidden under the uniform!?! Poop!

Looks good though. Definately a first for me.

If anyone likes my results (I mean I'm kinda happy with how it turned out, any tips or tricks from anyone else that has one- feel free to post pictures!!- would be welcomed)

I can tell you how I did it-

1st- After modification to the figure was complete, I literally inked on the tattoos with Sharpie (marker tip and pen tip for the black outlines)

2nd- I then painted on the base flesh tone and tan shadows around the ink

3rd, a thick wash of both flesh and tan colors overtop everything, then quickly dabbed off and rubbed around until this desired effect to make it look like it was under the skin

Sorry there aren't more detailed pictures, I wasn't really sure how it would turn out. Thanks for checkin into it, any questions- I'll try my best to explain

This is a 1/24-1/25 scale dio, so not real sure how this would work in 1/35- I think ideally this would be best in 1/16 or so as the tattoos could get that much more detailed.

In 1/35 I'd sugest forgoing the marker tip all together, no outlines, just using colored pen tip sharpies.
