Thanks for looking Camo Junkie!

Hans: Thanks for pointing out the rolled up sleeves. I will correct that and post pics with better lighting. I should have the figs done within the next few days so I will post pics as soon as I am able to take some pictures.

Actually looks like Luftwaffe blue on my screen, lol...

For a straight outta the bottle Feldgrau (Field Grey), my personal choice is Tamiya's Field Grey, XF-65.  My usual mix for Heer Truppen is  straight field grey for the tunics and then I add a couple three drops of white and a drop of Olive to lighten the trousers a skosh, but only one or two shades or so.. Anymore than that and it'll turn into a Mausgrau (Mouse Grey) that's better suited for Waffen-SS...

As the war progressed, the color-fastness of the wool was practically non-existant, lol... Heavy laundering would turn 'em into over-whites, lol..

Oh yeah.. Just a tip on the guy with the sleeves up; The lining of the tunic was a distinctly green color with just a hint of grey cast to it, so that would be apparent with sleeves up...  Here's the liner color under the collar, which is the same as the interior lining:

Thanks again Hans! Right now I'm assuming that MM German Uniform Gray is different from Field Grey. The uniform gray has no touch of green while the Field Grey has some green in it as seen in your pictures. Although, as I am not too strict on accuracy of the crew, I think I will leave them painted with the uniform gray. Here is a picture of two of the crewmen:

The lighting is kinda bad and gives the uniform a grayish blue look. It is actually a darker gray with no green in it unlike field grey.

These guys are pretty damn good in reproduction uniforms and getting the colors right...

Below is the M40 tunic:

Here's the M-43 Tunic. Note the White Waffenfarbe... Should be red for your artillery uniforms.. This goes for the M40 as well.

The major visual differences in the M1940 and M1943 tunics are pretty small.  The M40 has 5 buttons and pleats on the pockets, the M43 has six buttons and no pleats, and is slightly greyer than the original feldgrau..

Thanks for the help Hans. I think im shooting to build the gun for some time in the middle of the war and I am going to go with the all gray uniforms. And yes it is a Heer Flak 88 not the SS or Luftwaffe. Thanks for clearing up my questions!

The instructions say to paint the collar of the uniform dark green. Does that go for all of the crew men?

Only for the M-1936 Uniforms.. They were issued through 1941 when the M-1942 was fielded...  So it depends on when you're depicting the 88...

I have painted the uniforms of the crew Model Master German Uniform Gray. After seeing some pictures of german uniforms, some have gray colored pants with a dark green top. Should I paint the uniforms all gray or a combination of the gray pants with dark green top?

Again, it's gonna be when... Also, I'm assuming that you're doing a Heer (Army) weapon and not Waffen-SS or Luftwaffe, so the Feldgrau (Field Grey,=Grey-green) unifroms would be correct for the period...

You're much better off using some different refs for German uniforms than the instructions... Uniform colors in the Werhmacht were quite varied..

I'd start here:

Hello all,

Right now im in the process of building Tamiya's Flak 88 36/37. At the moment I am at a stand still with the crew. I particulary have two questions:

1. The instructions say to paint the collar of the uniform dark green. Does that go for all of the crew men?

2. I have painted the uniforms of the crew Model Master German Uniform Gray. After seeing some pictures of german uniforms, some have gray colored pants with a dark green top. Should I paint the uniforms all gray or a combination of the gray pants with dark green top?

Thanks for looking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
