Verlinden 200mm Croatian Hussar Bust WIP

Ok, this is NOWHERE near finished... but I am 99% finished with the hood and the face (just need to do the mustache on the face)
The hat is still being base coated, so simple im putting off finishing it, and its taking alot of detail work to get the little blue stripes on the shoulders correct.
Tell me what you think, and as always, photos show so much that you wont see with the nekked eye

You want to know what I think?
I know squat about figure painting.
Having said that, I really like the face.
Is that cord over his chest supposed to be separate or is it supposed to be part of his jacket or whatever? yeah, I know you said you aren't done yet.
Looks like he got some lipstick on his collar too.
Damn good face though, not over done, just right.

Thanks, the chord is sculpted onto the figure, I wish it was a second piece, it would be alot easier to work with.  The face has taken me alot of tries and Im not the happiest with it, its to tan, but then who knows, he is a soldier.  I cant find MY camera so tomorrow im gonna grab my parents and take a few shots.

I need to add a bit of red to the cheeks as well.  I am getting close to having the base coats finished for the clothes (harder then it sounds, alot of small details) once thats done I will use my oils to shade it a bit.

This is my first bust, its a big learning experience.  I have followed a tutorial, found it left him to orange so went and asked on another site and did some research to find different techniques and there is alot of trial and error.  If anyone knows how I could improve what I am doing, tell me.

Also, as a side note, something I did with the blue and I ended up liking.  In order to thicken the light blue which was to watery to use I put some darker blue in the mix.  It darkened it a bit but unless I spend 20 min shaking it, they dont mix completly so when I paint with it I get a mixture of light and darker blue, giving it's own shading, Its cool.
