What about these would they be wearing them

Maybe the one on the end, but this is really a late war set and I don't recall seeing foilage used in any of the Greek campaign photos.  The World War One set would be be more apt.

Jack

I don't think I've ever visited Masterclub's official site so had to use babelfish to translate.  Looks like they don't sell direct, but they do link a few sellers - all of which are new to me.

Two sites I do know that carry them and have purchased from in the past are HobbyEasy and Soga-Miniatures

The Chinese one has better prices.

Jack

np...

Forgot to mention possible suggestions for figures.  Most simple would be  to use Italian figures as the Greeks did capture stocks of their stuff when they chased them into Albania.

The other would entail some conversion work.  First you would need Hornet's Italian headset.  You'd have to remove the lugs on both sides - simple.  If you want to get detailed you can add some rivets along the bottom edges where the liner is attached.

Then get a figure or two from Masterclub, their WW1 Austro-Hungarian line.  The ones with the long overcoats would be perfect.  Bonus is they are equipped with a Mannlicher type rifle and the proper ammo pouches.  Also are wearing puttees and ankle boots.

You would have to remove the buttons on the coat and shift things over as they were single breasted.

regards,

Jack

Based on this photo of Greeks and Anzacs sharing a drink on Crete, they would still be wearing the British service dress (base on the WW1 pattern).

Headgear is still a mixture of whatever was available, even French helmets as illustrated by these Greek PoWs.

A few more colour plates here:

Alright, home now from work and able to check my book references.  Only correction to make is apparently the British helmet Mk1 was in the process of being replaced by the Italian type when war broke out.  Main type of rifle in use during 1940 was the 6.5  Mannlicher M1903/14.  Other than that Wikipedia seems to have the bases covered.

When Italy launched their campaign against Greece, the Greek army was in a period of transition.  It had borrowed it's "look" from various countries and was even still issuing uniforms designed from WW1.  The helmet you refer to was actually the Italian type, but they had been licensed to be made in their own country (which would have a few minor differences).  Near the end they would be wearing the British helmets.

By the time they reached North Africa they would be fully geared by the British and would continue in this fashion during the fighting up the Italian boot.

Does anybody have any good refrences of greek soldiers in WW2? I got a couple off google but nothing much. Their helmets look sort of russian I wonder if I could get russian figs and modify them? Also what kind of weapons were they using?
