Thanks for looking and for the nice comments. As far as the groundwork goes, most of it is Celluclay mixed with railroad ballast, paint and white glue. I has a small file cabinet with many types of foliage, rocks, tree stumps, grasses,turf and leaves from many sources. The actual bases either come from Micheals (decoupage plaques orsimple 2 inch blocks stained walnut with prices from 50 cents to a dollar) or from one of 2 or three vendors who specialize in bases. Some of those can exceed $25 for the finished base.
Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
