That's a real nice looking build Steve. I don't builds trains myself, but its really nice to see them when they do come up.

Yes, and the plastic seems to be brittle. If I were to build it again, I would dremel off the handrails, steam pipes and replace them with brass or stretched sprue.

Otherwise, it was a fun build. I would recommend it if you could find one inexpensive enough. I didn't pay retail.

Super looking BB! I have always wanted to build this model but have heard that it is not a very good one, things like heavy molded on handrails, pipes, etc. Is this what you found to be true?

Your BB came out very nice. I recently saw a report of a BB that was located in a museum in California and was purchased by UP. It was pulled by a 4,300 hp UP diesel locomotive up to their repair facility in Wyoming  to have it rebuilt and restored to running condition. The UP had 25 of these huge monsters built for them from 1941 to 1944  and only 8 remain in existence.

I love steam locomotives and enjoy riding them when possible, they are very special.

I've seen two of the real McCoys; there is one on display in a park in Cheyenne, WY and one indoors at the transportation museum in Denver.  Most impressive machine!

It was a super fun build. A little frustrating at times. The parts fit is something to be desired

That looks great man!  I've looked at that kit several times in Hobby Lobby and thought it was so cool.  Thanks for showing how well they can turn out.

This is a beautiful, interesting model. I especially like the weathering, and the metallic look on the front of the boiler.

As I've commented in another thread, I wish there were more static steam locomotive kits on the market. They make great models - even if they don't run on tracks.
