Looking good.  The wood parts look good.  Good job on the scribing of the wood grain.  Before you proceed on the barrel, you should remove the chrome so paint will adhere to it well.  To do so, soak it overnight in bleach and the chrome will diappear.

I worked a little on the barrel last night and painted it. It looks like I need to do a little more work on the locating pin dimples at the center of the barrel.

I also attached some cotton to the ramrod plastic swab with some thin acrylic medium. Hopefully it will look plausible as a swab when it dries.

This is a pretty neat little kit, that lends itself to some fun improvements.

Well I fixed the barrel and went out and bought some twill twine to replace the rope that came with the kit. It won't be long now, I just have to put everything together.

I'm completed with the assembly, I just need to attach the rope and place it on a base.

Turned out really nice !

I especially like the wood finish and how it looks with the "iron" fittings attached.

I'll need to try using the Testors wood and a wash of burnt umber oil  colours for my project.

Those old kits sure do turn out looking nice when a bit of extra acre is used.

I saw a Life Like French 75 at last year's Butch O'Hare IPMS contest and can't help wonder if Round Two has the molds for those old kits.

I'm super happy with the way the wood came out. Palmer Plastics also made a "Civil War Field Piece" (doesn't give the ball weight) and a Gatling Gun which would be pretty cool.

I'm mounting it onto a base with planking. I wanted to add a ship's wall and cannon port as well, but that would have been another project. I still need to work up some rope and then take some final picture in my "studio" (garage with proper lighting).

I remember building the Gatling Gun, if for no other reason than the donut shaped magazine.

I'm done with the 24 Pounder. It was a real joy to build this kit. Everything fit well and besides some filling on the barrel, there were no real problems. The kit was a little lacking in the detail department, however it lended itself to several enjoyable upgrades. It's a shame it is not produced at present, as far as I know.
I am seriously thinking of hunting down Palmer Plastic's Civil War Cannon and Gatling Gun to add to the collection.
