I think you best bet would be to modify some other 48th figures in winter dress. I don't know much about WW2 Brit uniforms, but I would guess the mechanic would be wearing a great coat. I have found to get the sort of dio's I want, I often need to modify or adapt existing figures.

I kind of thought it may have to come down to that. Looks like I'm gonna have to do a little sculpting with putty of sorts or.... modify them by kit-bashing using different figures

I thought Preisser made a good selection of airfield German figures in 1/72

They do, I enlisted them into the mortar squad for the Karl Morser dio.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Another diorama I'd like to create is this using a P-38 Lightning in 1942:

The diorama I want to create is this as portayed:

The pilot walking to his aircraft I can find. The crew member underneath the Spitfire is what I'm trying to find similar. My guess he's doing a pre-flight check underneath the Spit.

The automobile I'm unsure of the make but I can substitue it to something else if need be. The billet in the background is a type of building I have to search for.

I can even create something like this using these crew personel as well:

They do make a couple of good sets. And the Revell is good as well, and bears a striking resemblance to Preiser. But again, they are all in the standard black overalls. No winter or desert uniforms.

Ye, I have got that set, for when I ever need to use them. We could certainly use a wider selection of ground crew. Even German 72nd, the section which has the widest selection, falls short in variety.

Airfix made a cool 1/72 NATO ground crew figure set back in the early 80s. (the end of my 1/72 modeling days) Even had some guys in NBC gear as would be appropriate for that scenario.

Unfortunately, when it comes to groundcrew of all nations in all eras, you tend just to get the general sets. 72nd scale is the best covered when it comes to ground crew and there are no winter groundcrew sets, desert sets or any other beyond the general stuff.

I've got the 1/48 ICM set of figures. Most of those would work for temperate conditions. Not mid winter wet cold gear, but...

Oops...

1/48 scale, WW2 European Theater

I've looked at every possible kit manufacturers possible - Tamiya, Airfix, Eduard, Verlinden. I even looked into kits that included figures too. I'm sure there are some others I haven't looked into. I even tried google but it gives me results I've already looked into.

For what era and scale? Also theater? Winter WWII North Africa will look different from Winter Korea, or Winter Gulf 1991.

Looking for RAF Ground Crew Personel...
Posted by BlackSheepTwoOneFour on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 7:09 PM

I have been searching high and low everywhere for RAF ground crew personel kits for a diorama project I'm planning for. I know there are RAF ground crew personel kits but all of them are dressed in light clothing for cool or warm months but none in wintertime. Are there any out there in winter dress?
