Posted by captfue on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 6:44 PM

These are a few update pictures of a Cont. Marine firring from the fighting top. This coat of paint is used to find flaws in the sculpting and is not ment tobe a primer coat.

thanks for looking, if any ship guys have pictures of a fighting top I'd like to add some details.

What scale?  54mm?  Who does that figure?

Thanks,

Ask and receive

USS Constitution top from below

With a bit of scale

During the restepping of the masts last year

Note the rail on the aft edge.  In combat, the topsails would have mostly covered the curved leading edge.  (The lowest sail, the Course, is furled up while in combat; depending on the amount of wind, the topmost sail, the Topgallant, might be furled as well.)

With some sailors for scale

Wish I could link plans of the top to you.

Oh wow fantastic job on the sculpting there. I've said for years I was going to try to sculpt some figures I can't find for sale but still haven't gotten around to it.
