WWII 1/35 Plasma IV Bottles??
Posted by senojrn on Sunday, May 23, 2004 2:09 AM
Anybody know how to make (or where to buy) 1/35 scale plasma bottles from WWII. From the pictures I've seen they look like glass bottles--similar ALMOST to milk bottles (just a little more broad). Any suggestions or recommendations (or stories from experience) would be helpful.

I had thought to use the sprue from clear parts trees--maybe the part that necks down a little to the part attachment point? But trying to get them to look clear may be a challenge. Additionally, most of the ones that I have in my spares box have little air bubbles in them, or are deformed or sunken in one spot.

Also, any ideas on how to make them look like they have fluid in them?

Just wanted to see if anybody else had tried this before...thanks for any input!! Happy modeling!!

I think the sprue idea is best, find a piece of sprue that will be a bit bigger than you need, then carve and sand it to the correct shape. Then use progressivley finer papers, then metal polish, then dip in Future floor polish.

To make it look like it's got fluid in it, try painting a lightly tinted coat of future up to about halfway up the bottle.

You might try acrylic rod stock, if there's a plastic supply house near you like Tap Plastics. They come in progressively larger increments of 1/16ths of an inch. Try a 1/16th or 1/8th inch legnth. You can polish acrylic very easily sanding it as stated in the above post, though you don't have to do the future trick.
