Hi Ron,

I hope you did not think that I was picking on your figure... it was not meant that way at all. I just thought you might want to know for future projects.

If you are interested, I wrote a feature article over at www.armorama.com some time ago, which details how to add those needed helmet details. The link to the article is:

http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=283

Hope this is of some help.

Kind regards.

Hi,

Just a few things I noticed... are his rank collar insignia painted? It is tough for me to tell from the photos.

Also, maybe next time you may want to add the helmet vent holes, and liner retention rivets to the outer helmet shell?

Nice model though.

Hi Ron,
Really impressive. It could be real....are you sure it isn't just you dressed up!!!. What colours do you use to make up the flesh and what undercoats do you use? I'm still trying to get 1/35 figures right. I'd love to have a go at one of these but afraid of making a mess. I think I'll try and do a few more 1/35 figs first.
Well done again.

excellent fig biffa!!! I use acryls all the way for figs.. you know what sucks is I have done a couple of verlinden figs, and I was really proud of them until my brothers killer stereo's vibrations knocked them off the shelves.. heh, we all know what cracked resin will do.,.. they were never the same... it's been a few years, your fig inspires me to do another, don't think the wife will let me though

BTW biffa, you did a great job tying the figure into the base and groundwork by adding that coating of dust along the bottom of the greatcoat. That's a good detail that I've often seen missed.

GREAT JOB!
I swear by oils for any flesh on a fig.Its always good to have as much time needed before a paint dries on a fig.I never would have built a single figure if it was'nt for oils.

thanks again for the kind words guys i really appreciate it,
wolfp i had the macro on with these pics but it doesnt work very well for some reason, im taking this camera back and goin to try another it has a 30day return policy. the last camera i had took fantastic pics but it was a $280.00 camera but it fried up on me a couple of weeks ago this camera supposedly has better features but doesnt take closeups worth a crap but it cost close to $100.00 so i guess you get what you pay for,

hey guys thanks for the kind replys, these figs really are cool i have a couple more in the stash i got them cheap on ebay, ua0124 this is a good starter fig, no complicated camo, basic colours it really is worth a shot i enjoyed it for a first one ive got to do a few more now i got the bug, ill wait for the verlinder ones trowl those bit more pricey but i do keep eye out on ebay,
abdiel i love working with oils normally i just use them for weathering my armour but the working time on the facial shades and tones being able to blend for as long as it took really helped me with this, this was my first try at using oils for figs i always just used acrylics for my 35th figs may be changing now though, thanks again all.

Very nice. I have not done a figure yet. I am a little intimidated...ok alot. My skill as a painter are not where I would like them to be. However I would love to try it someday.

VERY well done, Ron! Do you find oils as forgiving as I do?!? I recently began painting Verlinden's Hun Warrior in oils after aplying an acrylic base coat. It's amazing the subtlety that you can obtain in this medium.
