One year later ....... finished at last.

Well it must be a year since my last post, but here are the results of my first two figures for over 20 years ( after deciding i needed a hobby to destress from renovating my house).

first is a 90mm french knight by pegaso

second is a 90mm cuirassier by Andrea.

Both are painted using Windsor and Newton oils along with humbrol enamels and warhammer acrylics here and there. All main armor was burnished and polished using duraglit.

Thx for taking the time to look at them, any feedback/advice will be greatfully recieved as I am keen to know where I am going wrong/could improve.

Well done! good finishes on both. Like the figures posed against a backdrop - very effective!

Good Job

VERY nice!  The look in the horses' eye is superb. Beautiful colors.

Seems painting figures is like riding a bike: you never unlearn.

Great work!

Excellent work, something to look up to for sure. This isn't a criticism, i just wasn't sure, i thought horses' eyes didn't have quite that much white on them. i'm certainly no expert on the matter, and i really don't know, im just curious. great work!

Hi again guys, and thank you all for the very kind comments, You have certainly given me the enthusiasm to press on with two others I have started. Having spent so long working at close quarters with those I pictured I find it very difficult to look at them objectively myself. (Quite regularly I decide to work on a figure, examine it whilst smoking and drinking tea for an hour and put it all away again, if i'm lucky I maybe paint a small part).

Blakjak you could very well be right about the horses eyes, i'm no expert either and I'm pretty sure that very little white generally shows under normal circumstances. My aim was to give the horse a startled look, as it has been suddenly pulled up with its head pulled back to the left whilst it tries to keep looking where it's going (if all that makes sense).

If anyone can guide me on this, it would be appreciated so i can make any necessary adjustments. I tried googling for scared horses with no luck so my next step would have to be field research, which I feel could lead to trouble Big Smile [:D]  'Man Arrested Chasing Horses With An Air Horn'

Again, thank you all for your encouragement.

Nah...looks fine.  I knew the horse had been startled while being reined in when I saw it.  You did fine.
