What the heck were those ???

You know what I was thinking about this thread the other day wondering if I could find it and here it is.  I was wondering because I found out the South Carolina State Flag has a gorget on it.  I always wondered why we had an Islamic symbol on it then found out it represented a piece of armor and lo and behold it's a gorget.  Well here is you another piece of useless triva.

They are gorgets, Rudedog.  Sorry that your thread got hijacked with all this "reliable sources" nonsense.  I hope you were able to get something out of all this beside the idea that everyone's a professional fact-checker these days and deeply entrenched in acadamia.

But really it may not all be wroung but enough of it is to give it a bad name. There are better places to get info on the net then Wikipedia, and really its true I read it on Wikipedia :)

 I know they have changed there rules about posting on there site so its harder to post non true info

I agree.  It's kind of an intellectual "buyer beware."  This is why there are sources cited.   Wikipedia does a pretty good job of keeping things straight considering the magnitude of info there.  Also, they post when citation is needed or if there is suspected inaccuracies.  Not bad for a free service.

You have a point, but someone would have to keep coming back here telling people the wrong thing, and someone else would then tell you the right thing. Its pretty unlikley every single person here is a artist.
