Thanks, Redleg12; I appreciate the comments and the humor!Laugh [(-D]

I'm shocked at all the love that Eeyore's getting here in the forum! He's probably saying "Thaaaaaaaanks fer noticin' me!"...Laugh [(-D]

Yeah my girl was teary-eyed when I gave it to her--she had no idea, and couldn't believe the clock either! She's my inspiration for raising the bar on my creativity! Kisses [:X]

DMl ain't got it cornered yet! I just purchased a Custom Dioramics 1/35 Resin Donkey...I'm building him as the 4-legged mobile command thing. What a poor name for a donkey!

Man, those crafty buggers! The easiest way to make the best 1/35th scale donkey is to be the only one making one. And you know what Edison said...Make the best 1/35th scale donkey and the world will beat a path to your door...

Okay, sorry...Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

OH MAN! Sad [:(] Did I type "Tamiya"?!

I'm an idiot! I'm sorry, Ben, he's a DML donket, from their "Gebirgsjaeger" kit--you get two donkeys and two soldiers; one of the donkeys is carrying a big radio set...

I fixed it with an edit in the post; thanks for drawing my attention to that! Disapprove [V]

Ohhh i got it! I was going to ask you that b/c I was looking at that Dragon gebrigsjaeger kit last night and i saw 4 soldiers and 1 donkey...but you say they give you two? The more the better! Oh Ben...you're gonna kill me!--I read your post and got to thinking "Hey, wait a minute...why would they say that theres only ONE donkey if I distinctly remember two?" So I went and dug out the box, and --I'M A DOUBLE-IDIOT!! Sign - Oops [#oops] The correct kit is DML  #6077--"German Fallschirmjaeger w/Donkeys" !

I'm sincerely sorry if you ordered the wrong kit!Black Eye [B)] I knew that the Gebirgsjaeger kit also had a donkey, and I mixed the two of them up! Color me STUPID!!!Sign - With Stupid [#wstupid]

Thanks, FingersEddie and jthurston!

jthurston, I have to be honest; I did this a couple months age, before I even started my Hetzer--I posted it here just to offer something different to the forum...I appreciate your comments though!

The grass is individually cut in bundles and then inserted into holes poked into the base with an awl. Time-consuming, but the only way I've discovered so far to look convincing. It's easily my LEAST FAVORITE part of doing dio's!

Thanks again for the compliment on the Hetzer!

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] I'm also in awe of your creativity., doog!

So here I am, struggling to put together a kit or two, OOB except where AM stuff can make it easier, and look what you're doing. Not only do we find here that you've done probably the best Hetzer I've ever seen (and I'm not exaggerating), but now scenes from Winnie the Pooh too! Yer killin me! Bow [bow]

In all seriousness, this is a very cool little dio. For one thing, a lot of people don't realize, but blue is a difficult color to work with (at least, it is for me). Another cool thing is all the grass. When I did a grassy field dio base once, it came out all clumps, and didn't look like evenly-growing grass at all. So it's not as easy as it looks.

The composition is good, the build is good, and the idea is very good. Instead of letting a dollhouse clock inspire me to scratchbuild one, I would've just used the dollhouse clock in the dio - and it wouldn't have turned out as well as yours.

It WOULD be out of scale for a REAL donkey, but don't forget that Eeyore is just a stuffed toy donkey, about a foot-and-a-half- long! In fact, it's probably UNDERscale to be honest! Anyway, I think that the exaggerated size is an artistic license that helps convey the feeling of a great burden being borne...which was the idea behind the scene; the sheer ridiculousness of having Eeyore carry this huge clock around just to tell the time!

HEY MAN! DIDN"T YOU EVER WATCH "WINNIE THE POOH"??? Laugh [(-D]

I realize that maybe the "Pooh" series and characters are unknown in some parts; I once had a Dutch girlfriend who didn't know "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas"--and then fell in love with the cartoon when she saw it at my place for the first time!

Thanks for the comment IYAYAAS! (Hope you know Pooh!)Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Hey, thanks again guys!

It's fun to take a break from the tracks and turrets and weathering and whatnot and totally re-direct my energies into something completely different like this and the other horse-themed models I do for Jenn, my girlfriend.

I'm happy to see that they're appreciated outside of our home as well! Thanks for the kind compliments!Big Smile [:D]

I bet that looks nice alonside your giant German Armor and that snazzy new hetzer we're hearing about! Donkeykampfwagen III ausf. E.  Looks great to me, I love these and the horses you post here, always a nize break from broken city streets and bombed out farm building.  The grass as well is great, andcI love the "Keep Owt" Sign.  Great work, I'm sure she's happy!

EDIT: Jus re-read and saw that the clock is scratchuiblt.  Great work! The face looks great for a picure!

"Eeyore's Dilemma"
Posted by the doog on Saturday, August 25, 2007 11:18 AM

Hi guys, well it's too humid and 90+ degrees outside to do anything today, so I thought I'd put up a figure viginette that I completed for my girlfriend. It's her favorite scene of her favorite character from "Winnie the Pooh" in a DVD that we watched with my nephew. I think it was "The Heffalump Movie"?

In the movie, Pooh and his friends have to venture into the scary Heffalump Wood, but don't want to get stuck in there after dark. Nobody has a watch, so poor Eeyore gets the heroic job of packing the Grandfather's clock on his back!Confused [%-)] In this scene, he's trying to figure out how to cross the fence at the boundary to the Heffalump Wood....

"Eeyore" is a DML donkey, freed after years of service in the Fallschirmjaeger corps, (DML #6077) and has finally added his trademark bow added to his tail after leaving the service...

The clock was scratchbuilt from plastic stock and strip, using a dollhouse accessory as inspiration. The clock face is a photo of a watch from a catalogue, (with a horse on it-my girlfriend loves horses!) sandwhiched behind clear plastic. The wood was ingrained with a scriber to simulate grain. The fence is scratchbuilt.

Hope you enjoyed this "oddball" little scene--it never hurts to keep the little woman happy! ( it pays GOOD dividends in the end!Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg])
