maybe that's your problem right there, ben...don't try to "finesse" them like an airbrush; they're not designed to be used that way--in fact, that might explain why you're having a problem with the nozzles getting gummed up. Those nozzles need the air pressure to clean 'em out.

I would suggest trying to use them as they are directed and see if you might indeed have better luck!

Arkansas. VERY high humidity. I've heard some bad things about humidity, but it's never majorly screwed up my models back when I sprayed them all with R-cans...And yea, I do light coats far away from the model and let them build up. I think the nozzles on them are clogged. When I spray, i always get paint on my finger that's pressing the trigger. They don't have much control..If you don't press down really hard, if you just press lightly on the trigger, paint oozes out and comes out in big blobs. I don't know...Boohoo [BH]

Oh now THAT is a funny story! Laugh [(-D] All apologies then! Blush [:I]

You can go over it with matt; it may take a few coats though to flatten it.

Have to say though--I can't imagine why you're getting those kind of problems with the R-can...do you live in an area of super-high humidity or something? Do you shake it enough? Your experience with it is very strange; I've never had that problem. You DO know that you should add light coats by starting at a point BEYOND the model and then moving the spray pattern past it, don't you? Maybe that was why you were getting "big chunks"on it?

Very strange...! Confused [%-)]

Yep, I know. Next trip to LHS i'll get the hoove color. Now ask for the rattle can thing...they spray paint a little too thick, my nozzles get clogged and then i get big chunks and blotches of paint on my masterpieces, and have to go re-do it all...and more stories about why I hate them. What I didn't mention was that I put Humbrol Matte on him. I swear the lid said MATTE. My only two humbrol paints are Gloss and Matte, which probably means I put the wrong lids back on. I tested on scrap styrene sheet a few hours ago, and the lids were wrong. Is it too late to go over it with matte? Will it blend in with the gloss and screw it up worse?

 Hey, friend.

Don't forget to paint the hooves a darker color.

No offense intended!Whistling [:-^] But you need to hit him with some dullcoat!

Big Smile [:D] I know! No offense taken. I did him up with Humbrol gloss, because I don't have any DC. I do have dullcoat in a spray can, but I refuse to use those after I got my airbrush. When I get some dullcoat, he'll be transformed. Until then, he's a show donkey I guess! Actually, all that shiny-ness came from one coat of Humbrol. So it's pretty effective...

Ben, I don't want to upset you, but that's the silliest thing I ever heard. You refuse to use a "rattle-can" dullcoat since you got your airbrush?!?! HUH? Why?!?! Do you think that the finish you would have got could be any worse than a high-gloss donkey?!?Confused [%-)]SoapBox [soapbox]

Really now; I am an experienced airbrusher, own two of 'em, and I dullcoat my finished models with the ol' rattle-can dullcoat 95% of the time! So do most modelers on this site I would wager!

There's NO NEED to be an "all-or-nothing" modeler. There are many products that are good for one specific purpose or the other, and if you draw a line through "dullcoat from a can" you're gonna wind up with...well.....high-gloss donkeys! Banged Head [banghead]I mean, how smart is that?!?!

You would have been MUCH better off not sealing him at all--not everything HAS TO BE sealed! Now you're going to have TWO coats of laquer on him, and the more laquer you have on something, the more unrealistic and obscured it looks.

What happened with the rattle-can DC? Some horrible experience or something?! I mean, can you explain why you drew such a "line in the sand"?? Sigh [sigh]

Panzer Red, MM Acrylic, just because I was too lazy to go get the color supposed be. Coated with Humbrol gloss enamel. Bad camera, blurry pics, but enjoy.

Closer, but even blurrier.
