Question about Italeri Gladiators with Quadriga kit.....
Posted by modelmaniac1967 on Friday, November 30, 2007 11:51 PM

Hello everyone,

I just picked up this kit today on sale for a few dollars, however it is missing the instructions, but not sure what else is missing. My question is to any one who owns this kit what is missing? I know the instructions are missing but I am curious if there was anything else that came with the kit that may be missing. Also does anyone know where I can find a copy of the instructions? like on a website or some place else.  Any help would be appreciated.

Well I feel really stupid, I ask about the instructions and all I had to do was turn the box over, because printed on the bottom of the box is the instructions and painting guide. Wow, oh well its an awesome kit except that the wheels look out of scale however.

Yeah, I'm working on their "Midieval Tournament", with knights and ladies and illuminati...no instructions either except on the back of the box. Natsy seams to clean up, and that super-soft plastic doesn't do ya any favors!  Sigh [sigh]

The wheels are probably correct--a wheel made of wood designed for bearing loads at speed would have to be a bit heftier than a wheel built simply for locomotion.

Doog,

Illuminati? In a medieval tournament? The Illuminati were created in the mid 18thc. Are you thinking of Templars or is that how they are described on the box? (very unlikely to see an ecclesaitical military order at a purely secular event) I'd paint them up as someones demesne or household knights or as individual knights.

Model Maniac,

The diameter of chariot wheels really isn't all that great. Remember, the center of the wheel is how high you will have to step up or off the chariot. I think these look fine and seem about right per period references.

Sorry renarts! That's a "typo"--me just being lazy in describing the various figures that they include--a bishop-looking guy, and a few other guys posing around the scene. I know all about the real "Illuminati"--there's a guy in the editorial pages around here who swears that they're still running the world, and I've had some very interesting conversations with him! LOL!

I should have said "glitterati" Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

The instructions were on the bottom? I had a boot that was full of some kind of yellow liquid that I couldn't empty until I found the instructions. They were on the bottom of the boot.

In the voice of Peter Graves...So Modelmaniac, do you happen to like watching Gladiator movies?? Big Smile [:D]  I'm sorry, that scene from Airport just poped in my head when I saw the model box. The kit looks like it would take all of 5 minutes to build.

MM first two posts reminded me of a real incident that happened to me many, many years ago when I worked in an electronics store in a mall.

Guy bought a digital clock radio, back in the day when digital meant white numerals on a skewer that turned like a rotisserie and the numbers flipped over every minute, none of this high falutin' LED/LCD stuff back then, thank you very much.

A couple days later he comes back, shredded box in hand complaining there was no clock on his clock radio. I lifted the unit from the box, looked at it and said, "Yes, there is." I then turned the radio around so the front of the radio was facing him.

He left the store rather sheepishly.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

I know, I thought the soft plastic was kinda strange. Know that you mention it, larger wheels would be brittle. I would love to see your Midieval Tornament when its done, and awesome article you wrote in the latest finescale modeler. Great job and excellant model.
