Figures of Ernesto "Che" Guevara
Posted by IanIsBored2000 on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 10:39 PM

As the title suggests, I'm searching for figures (not busts) of Ernesto "Che" Guevara.  So far, all I've found is a rather pricey (about $45 with shipping) 54mm figure by Andrea.  which looks like this:

I am hoping to make a small vignette/diorama depicting him next to or on one of  the sherman-variant tanks from one of his/Castro's victorious rebellions.

Something along the lines of this:

And, since the sherman I would use would most likely be in 1/35, I would have to use a 1/35 "Che" figure.  Since as far as I am aware, there are none of these, I will have to patch my own together.  The torso/body shouldn't be too hard, but I'm not sure where to find a head with a beret and thick curly hair.  I realize I'll have to modify the head quite a bit, but has anyone seen any heads that resemble the basic face at all?  Hopefully that makes sense.

Thanks, Ian.

Well, 54mm is more 1/32, slightly bigger... from what I understand.

Ian, I did a fairly extensive search, and couldn't really find much. The closest I could get was civil war heads for bushy hair. Still looking, tho.

Thanks Steve, I forgot to even look for Civil War heads.  Until now, the closest thing I could find for the hair were some Afghan heads, but they all had ginormous beards that would need to be trimmed, and more wrinkles than any living man could possibly obtain in one life time.  I think I've still got a beret from some Modern African soldier heads  by Warrior, I might be able to put that to use.  Thanks again for the help.

AgentG:  You're right, they are pretty close.  But,unfortunately, from what I've seen the 54mm is just a rough guideline for figure height.  Some that I've seen would easily fit into 1/35 scale, but some are far larger than 54mm.

And Pegaso, which is what this figure is, not Andrea, run a large 54mm. Not at all compatible with anything 1/35.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Sounds like you need a 1/32 Sherman!

Oops, you're right, not sure why I said Andrea.

I've thought about a 1/32 Sherman, but I'm guessing that would limit the variety of kits I had to choose from, I've never heard much about 1/32 armor.  The other reason I wanted to stay in 1/35 is because I don't have much of a desire to spend $45 on a figure.  If I could find a remotely similar head for 1/35, I think it would quie a bit cheaper.  Thanks for the thought, though.
