But, one thing alway's bothered me about "the cat guy". On the show , it was said that he " Evolved" from the ship's cat, over the course of 10,000 year's ........ HOW ???

Messrs Grant and Naylor have explained that there was more than one cat on board, but, the BBC did not want to go with that idea.  So, it was changed to Dave Lister's cat was pregnant when he went into stasis.

The cats did there thing and were fruitful and multiplied.  Eventually, they became sentinent (which probably helped get food from the vending machines).  Having become sentient, they realized ther ewas more to life than gamboling about in an empty minimg ship, so, they all left.  Except for the one vain cat , who was left behind when Lister comes out of stasis.

Oh lol, I've never even seen 'Red Dwarf'. I really do want to see it sometime though, it sounds pretty funny.

Well, the BBC thought so--there are 12 seasons of it.  Most of which are on Netflix (I think).

In some ways it's classic BBC comedy--a premise that needs vast sums for post-production and SFX and the like, and the Beeb gave them £156 6/ 2d and said, "Here, makes us a show!"

I first started watching it as a Saturday comedy show on the Houston PBS channel, a kajillion years ago.  The local PBS here in Dallas has a fan base for it (which they routinely peeve by starting and stopping a run of the show).

It's silly, the effects are campy, it can be very British with its references, but still funny even if you do not know who Biggles is, or the sorts of scaial stuff associated with English Public Schools (which are private boarding schools).

They also spent at least two season's of the show, stuck on the "Life boat"...

Now I'm going to HAVE to watch the serie's again ( I seem to recall ,that I only made it to season 5 or so ...)

So, here's the deal...... We have made it to 18,000 view's. But, thing's have gotten a bit "muddled" as to which Planet of the Ape's were actually talking about.....

Let's continue to be "Confused" about it.

Bakster was running though a dark house and Tim wearing an ape mask was chasing him trying to stab him with a razor sharp Icarus model...

Timmy... the jig is up. Now eveyone knows why Bakster mysteriously did an update. It was for fear of Timmy stabbing him with a pointy Icarus. Lol.

Mac & Tim: Now I'm going to have to get my hands on 'Red Dwarf'. I love the original 'Doctor Who' and frankly don't mind the paper mache and tin foil monsters from the Hartwell era - in fact I find them charming and fun.

Lol, not really 'where?' they landed- more like 'when?' they landed! 

And love the 'Predator vs. Planet of the Apes'! 

Things quieted down last evening and I stuck my head out. Seems I've made a big mistake. Since Bakster escaped without their help I've been trying to convince Pizza's thugs to drop the whole thing. But now he's obsessed- he wants to use the tractor beam to steal what's left of the Statue of Liberty for his rumpus room. 

So I showed them 'King Kong' and told them all the apes were 50ft/15m tall. 

Slarg the Predator freaked out and told them no one told him about the apes being giants. Vinnie started screaming about Slarg being a total wuss and 'the stupid apes are just bigger, fatter targets!!! And then he begin to wave his arms around and shoot at the ceiling. 

Of course we're on a spacecraft- shooting holes in the ceiling was not a good idea. The engineering teams have been working for the last few days repairing the hull leaks. Pizza got in a really foul mood and took all of Vinnie's guns away plus his favorite big knife he calls 'Chopper'. Slarg is cowering in his quarters crying about 'I didn't come all this way to get stepped on by some giant gorilla...'  

Cross your fingers things get better...

It's amusing--to me at least--that, in the first series, the Red Dwarf is clearly an Apollo Command and Service Module just gussied and greebled a bit (back to the "We need £156,000 for sfx"  BBC: "Here's £19 4/ 3d, and we want the change back.")

Later seasons they seemed to just keep greebling the thing up with more detail.

Alledgedly, they were not renewed for Season three (maybe four) and all the set stuff and models were binned.  Which brought us the "Starbug" seasons.  The "modern" Red Dwarf" is, as I understand it, a couple of trashcans greebled up and lit with a 40w lamp.

That explains it. ( I often wondered why they were "suddenly" on the "liferaft".)
