I can totally understand that. Thats one of the reasons that I havent had any real updates on my speeder. I try to get some time but that just isnt happening right now, hopefully soon however I should be able to do a little more on it.

Cool, that astromech if the legs are any indication is gonna be really a work of art. I am in the same boat on mine. I was full steam ahead for weeks but for the last month just an hour here and an hour there. No real big updates either. but thats what its all about... Its there when we are ready.

Haven't really gotten much of anything done.

Been working on non model stuff the last 2 weeks.

I am however working on the Astromech right now.

Part of the base is layed out, still trying to decide on a few things with it.

Also looking for accessories to add and I am looking at color schemes for it.

I think I bought the last one.

I've been looking all over for more figures.

I saw her listed on Hobbylink Japan but she was out of stock.

I just tried the web site and she's listed, must have typed it in wrong last time I tried the site since it didn't come up before.

Brick Works is the maker

Ma.K. UP! Series 1

Maschinen Krieger

1/20 scale figures

http://www.k4.dion.ne.jp/~bricks

brickworks@y2.dion.ne.jp

The site is in Japanese and I don't know if they sell direct even though prices are listed.

here's her page

Well I know that the body is 18' across since I have a copy of a screen used head sitting here, sadly I didn't get a body.

I than used a scale program (you enter the measurement and desired scale and it figures it out for you) this gave me the width than I used photos scaled down in photoshop to get the height.

Or you can use and action figure and subtract about 1/16" off all the sizes.

If I really need something measured I can get complete set of drawings off the R2 builders site, or ask a friend that has one.

As it stands the body cylinder is 1 1/8" H and 7/8" wide. (29mmx23mm)

There will also be added the neck ring than the head.

The R4 actually has 3 rings instead of the 1 on an R2, 3 and 5 have.

If I may ask, how you came about sizing up the little droid? As far as the barrel part, how high is that?

Small update pic on the Droid.

Since these pix I have done some work on the main body starting to open up some areas for vent's and plugs as well as some of the scribing started on the front.

That guy was posting his progress over on RPF a while back.

Really nice job.

At one point he was talking about motorizing the flaps.

I plan to make mine clean with no damage but if I pick up some more there will be at least one that is trashed.Big Smile [:D]

I'd like to do a stripped down racer.

Once I mapped out one side I took all my measurments off that side to copy on the other, I also checked my reference pictures to make sure they where identcal and if not than check other models used to see if the panels where the same.

Turns out both sides are the same but the models used where made to look like some parts where replaced due to damage so the sides are not symetrical. (hope that makes sence)

I got the legs partly done for my astromech and part of the panels mapped out on the front.

Still working on the front panel in the speeder and need to start on the rear.

Also trying to work out something for the engines.

 edit...

Also started on the base.

Another question for you. I have spent most of the night mapping out the left side of the speeder for the lines to scribe and then it came to me. How do you make it match the other side exactly? Or do you just have to trial and error it out until it matches?

Darren

Any updates yet?  Have you given any thought as to adding battle damage? Found a cool site, you'll have to copy and paste as I do not know how to add a hyper link here yet. http://public.fotki.com/HVHMG/members_gallery/michael_proenzano/incom_t-47_armored/ He is building his own speeder from scratch and the work is out of this world....

I make it up as I go along, trying new things.

Really I have no idea of what I'm doing and always over engineer every thing making it to complex.Tongue [:P]

Still gotta figure out how to pull that one off.

Might look into some F4 engines like they used on the X-Wings.

Yeah they are expensive for the size but I have been buying garage kits for the last 2 years mainly in 1/6 scale and those have ranged from $45 to over $200.

Accept for a seam right over the top of the head of the girl with the wrench these are really clean castings.

Most of the seams are well placed and hidden not like some of the other figures I have.

Of course most of the large ones have little or no cloths so it's really hard to hide a seam. Whistling [:-^]

This model was essentially free since I've had it since 1980 I needed to spend money on something in the way of aftermarket parts. Wink [;)]

Still have to figure out what to do about the engines.

Eric...

They are sweet figs thou, I love the garage kit industry and had a bunch of the female figures, just couldn't paint them to have them come out looking decent so i gave that part of the hobby up and sold them all. I can't wait to see how you paint them and Im getting really anxious to see how you pull off the engines being out of the speeder, this is gonna be a really cool build and dio!

As far as the engines go you could try what i did and use part of the engines from the pod racer, not sure if its close to scale but for me for just showing part of them it worked out ok.

Another update.

Found some mesh that is close to what was used inside the wings in my stash.

Finished the foot holds.

Gun barrels are almost done, needs a bit of clean up.

Started the interior blocking out the rear area since the engines will be removed.

And Introducing "TEAM SPEEDER" Big Smile [:D]

These lovely Ladies are the maintenance crew on this little project.
