I built a similar ship, Polar Lights 1/350 scale NX-01. I used the Aztec Dummy vinyl masks and they worked very well. I have the 1/350 Enterprise in the box waiting to go, with a set of Aztec Dummy masks for it, too. These masks seem more complex and may be a lot more work to apply correctly than the previous NX-01.
As far as lighting goes, you will be in for a BIG job, and if you only have basic wiring skills from model railroad work, I would not recommend you attempt it. It's not just soldering, but there is routing of wiring and how to mount parts to figure out. Most of those big light kits are just a big collection of loose components with cryptic instructions that require an electrical engineering degree to figure out. I bought a set for the NX-01, and after studying what I got for almost $300, decided to send it back for a refund. The model looks fine without the lights, and face it, how often are you going to light it up and stare at it, once the novelty wears off? I don't mean to be negative, just practical.
