I rarely post over here but I started a space battleship kitbash in my Steampunk GB. I know, not steampunk but the GB is for anything kitbashed.
So, I bought the ultra crappy Revell Missouri, circa 1957, using the 40% coupon from HL, otherwise it's not worth the $22 and change they're asking, and started cutting and sanding. I removed most of the molded on deck guns, ammo boxes, fitting and sundry other globs of plastic which were molded on, sanded, filled and sanded again.
I grabbed my increasingly abundant parts box and enlisted the help, mostly from so far, a 1/350 Ohio class boomer and 1/72 Harrier. The real G offered and sent, God love him, some resin engine nozzles from the Space Battleship Yamato to help the shipyard with construction costs. I added hull pieces for engineering spaces, engines and you know, use your imagination. I then stuck on the engine nozzles from the Harrier’s Pegasus engine for vents, or whatever, 1/32 fuel tanks for electronics blisters and the Harrier’s wings for, well, wings and a 1/72 MiG-29 tail for, a tail.
I still have much to do before I even think about starting to wrap it up, but I’m having so much fun that I decided to do a space carrier next using the almost as crappy Academy Kitty Hawk. Every REAL navy needs a carrer, right?
So, stay tuned.
