Most people really don't seem to like mecha though, or atleast that's how I see it from how people describe some shows and all...

On the Sunday of Columbus Day weekend, there is the Annual Model Show sponsored ny the Igor Sikorsky IPMS. It's held at the Knight of Columbus hall on the Post Road (Route 1) in Milford. This year I think it'll be on October 10th.

Not a heck of a lot of Sci Fi. Last year was better. I'm definitely bringing a couple of things this year just for the sake of volume for the Sci Fi display.

Are you sure about this? I could have sworn it was like Macross Plus in being an OAV.

Do you live close to the Milford area in CT? There's an annual Model Show there in October. I trying to get some Sci-Fi stuff of mine ready for it. I saw your web site and it would be great if you brought your Mecha that you have posted there to the show.

Actually, MZ was on TV first, not straight to DVD... Just in case anyone got a bit confused there...

Also there is sort of a 'Macross Genisis' going on now in the form of a DVD series called 'Macross Zero'. It's involves the development of the VF fighter with it's prototype called the VF-0. Hasegawa produces model kits of this and a sort of anti-Valkyrie, the SV-51. I would recommend the Macross Compendium site http://www.anime.net/macross/ as the most comprehensive site that describes the Macross Universe.

Robotech was the "americanized" version of Macross and was composed of 3 different Macross sagas, cut & pasted together, edited and somewhat censored for the U.S. TV viewers.

Regarding Macross-related model kits, Hasegawa has released quite a few of them the past couple of years. Revellogram (Revell at the time) repackaged some of the Bandai kits of the time and resold them in the U.S. as "Robotech Defenders", and you can still get the Bandai kits today (although retooled and a tad improved).
The Bandai Valkyrie kits are usually transformable between battroid, gerwalk and fighter plane. The Hasegawa kits are not transformable (you have to buy the fighter and the battroid separately) but they do have the Hasegawa quality and attention to detail. Excellent kits IMHO.
