Well, I have a PL 1/1000 Enterprise (TOS) and Klingon Battlecruiser coming in the next week, plus landed the old TOS Enterprise/Klingon/Romulan small models kit on E-Bay (due to be mailed).

I am rather hoping the old kit matches up with the PL kits size-wise.  In any case, am geared for Star Trek TOS / kitbashed variants in the next week or two.

Once these are done, I may consider this resin set, except I really am gearing for doing kits with lights.

Woody's kit would be a great one to jump into the resin realm with Aric, and we would all help you with any questions. They're not really that intimidating. And I think another GB is in order(any ST subject) as it helps us all get kick-started into another project, and build off each others' progress.

Hopefully the hijacking of this thread is overwith, I think some apologies to Woody are in order. This kind of stuff reminds me of a playground.............................!!!

I would personally be very interested in an "Oldies but Goodies" Star Trek build (Pre-TNG).

And Woody, you still got a sweet kit there.  I wish it were styrene.  Am to shy to try resin yet.  Too, anything sci-fi I plan to build I want to run lights and stuff, and resin is just not hollow enough.

I have been reading this for awhile and probably keep out of it but since this forum do have moderators, let them decide if it is advertisement or not.  I just want to come here see everyones work and talk about modelling.  I do not think Linda was advertising since all throught out this thread and the Starfleet Museum Group Build thread, everyone has been asking to be notified when it is available.  That is not advertising but sending out info on availability.  I am stopping now because I think I am already in hot water with a couple of other people for my comments in another thread somewhere else.  I just want to have other modeling friends to share and learn.

Another Starfleet Museum Group Build would be nice.  Maybe something in March and this time have it more of a workshop thread with an unofficial time limit, especially since most of us went over.  We at lest I have.  I have started my USS Dadaelus class but I am stuck on how to get a section made. I will figure it out.

Its funny isn't it.. All I did was ask someone to respect the rules.. And it has been blown out of all context.. This never had anything to do with saying anything badly against Woody and or Linda.. I am infact a fan of the design that Woody has displayed in this thread..

Like Linda, I dont know Woody. So in saying that. Any comments that I have made, have no meaning of spite or ill-feeling!..

The fact that a whole page has been wasted because of it, is in my mind a little puzzling...

Ty, your God bless my family line is a classic!.. You are about as sincere as my big toe mate!Black Eye [B)] Your just too funny!

I prefere to stay out of thing like this however FSM is my home too. Now starting something up with "AG" has nothing to do with this or any other thread. So far he has been respectful of the rules here and that age old problem needs to be burried so we can all get back to the hobby.

I don't think from reading the rules that there have been any violations of said rules. No one has offered this kit for sale on the fourm here nor is Woody selling the kit himself. According to the rules if someone knows where a product can be found then it is ok for that information to be given when asked. Linda didn't violate the rule as far as I can see in that she only stated where it could be found.

In the "Garage kit" biz the fourms are where we see whats new and exciting in the works and in the case of the Baton Rouge build a ton of usefull information that we can all gain from. I know that I am gratefull for the information and anything that can be gained from this fourm and those that share in it.

Masao, thats true mate.. You can tell that to the guys that wanted to innocently start a decal trading thread.. (no money involved).. But instead respected the wishes of the moderators!

Its a shame that the moderators dont come in here very often, because I guess sci fi isnt all that important. But it doesnt mean that you have the right to advertise when others dont.. Call me a narc, or whatever you want. But if we have to respect rules, then so does everyone else!.. Easy enough to understand I would think?

People who know me, know that I am not trying to start trouble, but I enjoy this site, and dont want a couple of people to use it like a door matt.. Not much to ask for!..  Now I dont have a problem with Linda, nor have I actually spoken to her, or know her.. So its not a request made out of spite or any particular feeling.. I just decided to highlight the rules that we all must respect.. I guess people like Ty and your good self seem to think that you dont count?

Ty, or who ever you are today?  So many alias's, so little intelligence.. Cant remember the last time you wrote anything of substance. But you havnt dissapointed in wanting to jump on the band wagon of other peoples battles.. Or kiss ****** to get something out of others!...Your a legend mate!~ I expect a reply.. Wonder if you can keep still?... I doubt it!

Chris, if you are so bothered by what Linda has done, why don't you narc on her to the moderators? No one else seems to have a problem with it.

In simple english for you Ty..

My comments had in no way anything to do with the great piece Woody did..

It was about advertising.. If the normal forum user has to respect the rules of trading, Then maybe the rule should be followed by all the members that sign up for an account...

I think it is great Fish that Linda did that,I am glad to see Woody's fine work displayed over here.Woody is a very talented Modeler and his work should receive recognition.I personally do not think it is an advertising plot to sell his kits,I think Linda is just spreading the word that his kit is available to those who want one to build for their collection.

Because his original kit was at Wonderfest as an entry this last year, and I do not know if it won a prize or not,but If it didn't, it should have won a Ribbon.See when some are not able to come to events over here in the USA they miss out on some very interesting contests and events that go on here.

Anyway did you see Woody's lastest creations, his Vulcan ship he is working on,man it is cool looking.I am quite sure Woody will post some finished pics of it when it is done. I wish more people who create new bashes would make them into available kits to buy, because it would give us modelers a chance to own a piece of that person fine work.

Hi Fish.. I wasnt trying to play the Internet police.. But a few of us were at one stage throwing around the idea of creating a data base for un-used decals.. As it was seen as trading, the moderators quite politely asked us to move our discussion off the board in order to keep the site free of advertising in respect to thier sponsors..A little harsh we thought, as it was just a swapping (no profit) idea being thought of. But respected by the members concerned...

I have been reading the post's made by Linda over here, and as you can tell with her post count, she doesnt post very often or post regularly about certain subjects.. I have noticed however, that her posts usually contain a reference to their online store.. Pretty much to the extent that I have often wondered why a moderator hasnt noticed this themselves?

People have been allowed to discuss different kits, techniques and reference sites ect... But trading has been frowned apon.. My comments were made, in a way to say, that if we respect the views of the admin, then maybe others should do the same.. If Starship Modeler want's to advertise here. Then I am sure that Fine Scale would send them a list of advertising prices!Smile [:)] Pretty fair I would think?

Easy there, Chris.  I don't think anyone's business is hurting for this.  I think that sharing the development of this model was quite informative.  I know it's given me some idea of the design process of a new and fresh model not previously available.

Don't we come here for inspiration?  I'm personally glad to know where I can find this kit as well.

Think in terms of what has changed in 100 years of US Naval history. Really a lot! Uniforms, insignia, things change drastically in a 100 year stretch of time.

These changes reflect the changes in styles and fashions as much as anything.

Compare army uniforms and insignia over the last 100 years. Styles, colors, shapes, all have made considerable changes in all branches of the service. Likewise navy ship markings, etc. differ over time.

So, it would follow suit with the change in Star Trek history. As ship designs change and evolve, the eye of the military and government leaders would likewise want to develop new images to match.

Forgive my ignorance here but I am some what getting lost. I do not play the games but I do read the novels and watch all tv series. What I am babelling about is the Federation was not around that long before the TOS series started. I think it was approximately 200 years from the time Cochorane developed his warp drive engine (please correct me if I am wrong) In the episode when Kirk meets Cochorane, isn't Cochorane little over a hunderd years old? Also, with Khan, did not they say they were from the Genetics Wars, only a hundred and something years before? Like I said if I am wrong, pardone the ignorance. I am just wondering if my timelines are close, would the patterns of stripes and symbols be pretty close. It is kind of like the different blues and grays and greens of our military. Some don't change at all and other just get a slight change in shading of the colors. Woody, what ever the decals will be, they will be like all star Trek ships. A little uniqueness is good. I believe that there really is no right or wrong:) Woody this is a very nice looking ship. Do do some of the best work around. I cannot wait to see the next group build for ST models.

I strongly agree that Masao's pennet & emblem designs be used. He has done an incredible job of designing Starfleet and enemy ships of earlier periods in a consistent and original manner that complement the designs of th Original Series. I have recalibrated the Spaceflight Chronology timeline to put it in line with more recent developments in Star Trek Chronology, and the Baton Rouge class ends up having been launched about the same time as Masao's Valley Forge class.

http://www.starfleet-museum.org/valleyforge.htm

While that ship looks somewhat different in design, the overall volume of the Baton Rouge is about twice that of the Valley Forge, so it would play the role of a Battleship (which would euphamistically be called a Heavy Explorer by the Federation). So, one would not be suprised by differences in engine design required to move a much larger vessel, one who's design origins probably date back a decade before launch. The mass from the Spaceflight Chronology has to be corrected up to 277,500 MT to come in line with Masao's designs, such as his Siegfried Class Dreadnought.

Star Fleet Battles has the following registries for refitted Republic Class vessels (they may have a more detailed list in their "The Early Years" expansion product, which I do not have yet).

NCC-1371 Republic
NCC-1372 Reshadije
NCC-1373 Ramilles

http://www.starfleetstore.com/MERCHANT2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=S&Product_Code=5623

While your design departs from the fan designs that came before for the missing secondary hull details, fan based Treknology, and more professional resources are now pointing towards the class receiving multiple large scale upgrades through the years. I have it in service from 2226-2266, though these dates may change by a year or so in the upcoming revision. The Republic Class appears to have been a somewhat later related design to which the Baton Rouge Class was uprated, so if you are concerned about copyright issues, that class is an option.

http://www.starfleetstore.com/MERCHANT2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=S&Product_Code=5724

As to whether the Constellation class predates this class, it can go either way, either the Federation allocated blocks of registry numbers to certain types of ships, the designs of which might not be built for many decades, or the Constellation and sister ships were major refits of vessels that predate the Reuplic Class. SFB has the names of some converted Constellation Class vessels as well (which might also have been expanded upon in "The Early Years" expansion:

NCC-1017 Constellation
NCC-1018 Goeben
NCC-1019 Eximer

The Defiant was on my list as well (1016), but Enterprise has pre-empted that registry, at least for the TOS era ship, though the registry could be used for an earlier ship. Presumably, these were all originally Horizon Class vessels (NCC-1000, as provided in other Treknology sources).

Getting back to the model at hand, it is a really beautiful piece of work and you are a master of the craft. Please keep posting on your progress. Congratulations and good luck.
