You and me both, Larry!

By the way, saw Godzilla Final Wars tonight.
I thought it ROCKED! Most entertaining G-flick in ages.

I cannot even begin to tell you how old that makes me feel.

J-Hulk-

We all know Godzilla doesn't obey physics or natural laws! But you're right- we're always in the audience or watching any godzilla flick no matter how bad if it happens to be on the tube. I'll be waiting to hear if Godzilla gets drop-kicked a half a mile, wafting up like a leaf at the end of the flight! Hummm-maybe they'll do the "bite the jaw and punch the other guy up in the air routine too." Have fun- wish I was there!

Yeah, I agree about the weak-jawed G...kinda worried about the ugly cut and fold on the back of his head when he opens his mouth, too...and I'm always suspicious when I hear about "lighter suits" created to increase the "speed" and "agility" of these giant beasts...the last thing I want to see on screen is a hyper "kibbles 'n' bits" Godzilla flailing around like a Keystone Kop...creatures 100 meters tall weighing tens of thousands of tons shouldn't be "speedy" and "agile," at least from our human perspective. (Just my personal Kaiju philosophy, I suppose).

I'm looking forward to Final Wars, of course, but as with the last decade of G-films, I'm going in with lowered expectations, hoping to be surprised!
Ah, who am I kidding...even if it's crap, I'll love it!

J-Hulk, I'll be interested to know your opinion of Final Wars- my son has eagerly followed the web site and all news. I don't know myself- some of the new guys look alot like Ultraman re-hash to me. Godzilla looks really slimmed down and I'll be curious as to how flexible it is in the battle scenes. The only thing about godzilla I really don't like is the thin, bird-like lower jaw. I'm awaiting my Wave "League of Extrodinary Gentlemen" Nautilus from HobbyLinkJapan. Supposed to be released this month. I'm a dyed in the wool Disney Nautilus fan, but like to have alternate versions too!

Thanks for the kind words, justimagine!
Yup, I enjoyed the pix of your amazing collection. I still need to scan the pix of my Kaiju Kollection so I can post 'em for the few of us here who are diggin' the G!

Speaking of which, Godzilla Final Wars opens this weekend (Premieres in Hollywood today!). I've got my maeuriken (advance tickets)!!
I haven't seen any kits from the new film yet, but I've already picked up the decent Bandai figures.

J-Hulk. Enjoyed the photos. It's been along time since I visited with you, I sent you some godzilla pics long ago. Monsters in motion has some of the pricey predator
super-kits. The old predator is especially detailed- too bad it's so pricey! Still, check it out. I think those old kits could still be displayed alongside your new stuff without too much embarassment. I know my shelves have plenty of work that's not up to today's standard. Your Halcyon looks much better than most I've seen over the years.

Brian, nice work on the figures. I'm looking forward to whatever Aosima releases. I build the dropship when it first came out, and, unfortunately, it got dropped in reality. Didn't hold up as well as the cinematic version did. Oh well............ thanks for sharing your builds with us.

Thanks for the kind words, guys!
Yeah, I haven't seen these kits in a looong time, either. I think Aoshima is supposed to re-release some of the old Halcyon Alien stuff, but I'm not sure exactly what.
Sure would like the APC and Dropship!

Noce job J-Hulk. I wish I could still find these kits somewhere, but unfortunately, the last time I saw one at my LHS, I was still too young to even know what they were.
Too bad, as having one now would be great!

Aliens and Predators (Halcyon and Billiken, lots of pix!)
Posted by J-Hulk on Sunday, November 21, 2004 9:29 AM
I haven't posted anything here in the Science Fiction forum lately, so I dug up and scanned some pix of some old Alien and Predator builds I did about ten years ago (back when I didn't care about sanding parting lines, apparently!). I was going to post them over on the Figures forum, but I felt they really belonged here.

Have a look and a laff, and of course, all comments are welcome!
(Don't be afraid to hurt my feelings; after all, I did do these ten years ago!)

Here's the Halcyon "Alien with Egg" kit:

I think this is one of the best renderings of an Alien on the market (is it still vailable?).

Here's the Halcyon Predator 2 kit:

Halcyon did a great job on the dreadlocks, but I think the Predator is way too skinny! I do recall reading an article by Stan Winston saying Predator actor Kevin Peter Hall had lost a lot of weight for Predator 2, thus enabling Stan to make a leaner, meaner Predator, but I don't think the charactor was THAT skinny in the film. Check out that huge unfilled seem on his left bicep!
I knew nothing of filling and sanding back then.

Here's the Billiken kit:

Nice kit, but I always thought the molded-on dreads made him look he had just stepped out of the shower.

I built these kits years before I had an airbrush, so it's all rattlecans and brushes. I think they came out halfway decent, though.

I was looking forward to an influx of cool new Alien and Predator kits with the release of AVP, but nothing I've seen so far has interested me. Too bad...

Thanks for looking!
