Zakulabor & fallen Zaku II - WIP

some of you may remember the diorama project I started but never get around to complete.
Well after rescuing the badly assembled MG Zaku I that my fiend's young son was throwing out I thought what if I rebuild it as construction/repair MS - aka Zakulabor - and put in the scene with the battle damaged MG Zaku II from the previous project. Besides this will take my mind off from my Ver. Ka+OYW project. (I had a few issues with that and till I come up with the easy solution it's been put into back burner like my other half dozen on-going projects.)

Still at very early stage and as I don't take photo of each and every steps pictures may/will jump around. You may see bare parts and next it's all completed and painted and etc. ^ ^

Anyhow here are few pictures I took while I was fiddling with them. I'm trying few things with this project - doing C-type mod. and making Zaku and Zaku II helmet removable to make painting easier, modifying exposed Zaku II leg frame more in line with MG manual mechanical drawing, scratch building various house hold items for the 1/87 scale house kit from the junk box, full metal frame painting, full scratch shovel & nail gun for Zakulabor ^ ^ and etc...

this is one of MG Zaku F2 kit that I started modifying as part of my Dodai II project. It's been in the box for a while now after rush to finish to meet the dead line but I wasn't really happy with the end result as I left things out a lot.

As such while I'm working on my Zakulabour project I pulled this one out and started to fix and change few places... it was painted in old German army colours but not sure it's actually correct as I'm not that familiar with military modelling myself - though I'm quite fascinated with the WWII Germany military gears... I'd appreciate if military modellers could point me to the right direction in regards to the details and scheme... ^ ^

anyway, in case you haven't noticed the major point of modification was putting double ball joint in the middle so it can bent forward far more than MG Gouf Custom. It's very rough patch job though as I used epoxy putty to hold the sockets in place... other than that the rest are the detailing up like the extra flap on the spike shoulder armour an brush of thinned putty on the armour to get the rough texture and etc.

Machine gun is the optional not for sale 1/100 Zaku machine gun by the way...

ok small WIP in  a while
been busy finishing off other models but finally did some base painting on the frame to cover up the mess I made before - guess time for washing after I put on some future

main point of modification were upgrade on the exposed left leg frame with working cylinder gimmick at the middle and lower section plus the chest hatch to be open all the way down... and replaced the head with optional mechanical head. I do have the helmet modified to be dropped on it though not yet decided on that idea...
