Check out vendors in April at CMFXXIII. Also I am going to CALMEX in two weeks and can check there if you need anything, if you are not going to be able to make it I can pick something up for you.  One of the vendors usually has something.....

Well I have thought about it an I'm not going to do this one with Fiber optics. I just orderd a new one an that one will have the FO job done on it. As for this old thing I'm going to finish it with some detail's of my own and I will post my work. An the same thing when I start on the new one. Hay I looked up a new one in 1/48 scale now that would be an even better one to do in FO, "There's a lot more room in side". I only found a Transkit for the First T.I.E. Now from the Model Empire I can get one of the original MPC kit's (High cost) in 1/48 I'm still thinking on that.

I'll be back soon with some new pix.

Way too cool bro!

I'll send you the Arubesh alphabet offline, you will need it anyway down the line ;-)

I think I will run two LED's into my cockpit up the sidewalls and have them about where you can make out the two long red stripes, kind of shining back from the windscreen / vacuumscreen to the pilot.  I can run the wires down the sphere and into a brass tube to run to a power supply/ base.

Since we are not likely to see a set of PE outside of new Finemold releases there are two possibilities:

1 Generic panel sets like the WWII radio face sets from True Detials. Cheap and easy to get, I use them to fill space in mecha models and such.

2 Generic positive and negative molds (thier term) for Gundams / mecha, I have a set of these in PE and they would again be good space filler and create some of the ocmplex shapes inside the cockpit.

In the automotive world there are a ton of PE sets that can be adapted. I ahve some leftover set here that has all sorts of shapes and brackets on it, I will use a lot of this on my interior to dress it up. Funny, I have the big Kenner toy hanging over my comptuer and its interior is NOTHING like thekit!

You know now that you bring up L.A.D.'s I my just do that I know that the body is together now but I think I my have a way to put in some fiber optics. If I can't get thim in I my just pull the body a-part. LOL ME A TIE pilot. naaaa your the man for that job. As I'm to tall, I my just want to dedicate it to you. An use your TIE nummbers ext. TI_ _ _ _. I think it would look good on a placard. Hay now that I'm starting to work with my PE set my be in time I my be able to make my own StarWars PE parts. "Hummmmmm" Oh did every one go an look a the 48" Star Destroyer thread. that thing shows the best work I have ever seen.

Here is the one production photo of the real interior set used during filming.

If anyone wants to try to go thier hand at scratchbuilding a TIE pilot or even modding a figure to  a pilot, PM me, as the Terminator says, "I have extensive files..."

man, here ya are, building this awesome TIE variant, and you AINT gonna go get yer TI number?????????  What gives???? (dont worry guys, we know each other Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] )

The red looks great on the black walls. How did you do it?  Do you plan on running any LEDs into it? A red LED from above would look great giving it that overall red glow if you put it behind a peice of clear plastic that has been frosted to distribute the light.

I will post up the actual production photo for others here to use. It has been posted elswehere on the net.

As far as PE...with the LFL sharks out there that isnt going ot happen. They already shut down SMT who built a nice Tie/b (bomber variant) and will go after just about anyone who uses the intellectual property without a full license.  Revell AG has the current license for Ep 1-3 models.  I just picked up two of these old kits and plan to build a TIE/b and a TIE/sh variant. The TIE/sh was only seen very breifly as the one that ferrys Captain Needa to the Imperator in Ep 5 (ESB) We only see it dropping out of the Destroyers main hold for a second and it looks like a TIE/b.

I plan on using PVC pipe as my main body tube, the rest will come from who knows where.

Fine Molds makes the TIE Interceptor and it is probably a more detailed kit than those old MPC kits were.  I have the FM X-Wing, TIE Fighter and Y-Wing and while I have not yet built them, those kits appear to be hands-down the best you'll ever build of these vessels.  Unless of course you were fortunate enough to have worked for the IL&M model shop in the late 70's and early 80's. Smile [:)]

Yes as you can see in the 2nd pic it's the Return of The JEDI TIE Interceptor kit #8931 of  MPC/Ertl. Now on Vaders fighter on the interior it look alot the same as all TIE's do.

He's looking away in that shot.

Love that over the shoulder view:

Well as you can see I didnt do a good job at it the first go-around. but I'm goint to clean it up a bit and do a better job on the exterior by adding more detail. Like here on the window I used a liquid mask.

Now as for the panels there done I just need to go over thim a little.

I hope in time I can get a biger one to realy jump in to it an do a realy good one. Here's some shot's of more TIE interiors if any of you need them.

6" TIE Interceptor Build
Posted by White_R34 on Saturday, January 5, 2008 1:13 PM

Well this kit has bean on my shelf half started so I want to go back an get it done. at the time I started the build I didn't have the skills I have now an no way to get pix of the interior of a "TIE". Now I have the shots an my old unfinished model from 10 years ago. So this is where I have started, When I first built it I remembered that all the lighting in a TIE was all red an so That's what I painted on the interior of my TIE.
