WW1 Ships we'd all like to see!!

Although the world economy is in the crapper these days, perhaps we would not be too far remiss in putting in our requests for future production now! As there have been many threads addressing the various WW2 and later ships, I thought a separate thread just for WW1 (and earlier) might be a good thing, as this is a shamefully ignored period among model producers (other than the high-priced specialty resin manufacturers), and really should be addressed!

Here is my first stab at a list in order of preference for 1/350 scale, and I'm sure there are many others who will chime in as well. A quick note for any manufacturers that may read this, it is almost essential that models be produced simultaneously from both sides and not just from one!!:

I've always been very fond of the Viribus Unitis class, as it represented a very economical solution to the problem of getting maximum utility from the guns mounted, and the super-firing triple gun turrets is an outstanding solution well in advance of other navies of the time! Of course, there is no point in producing model ships of one navy without some opposing forces, so of course an Italian dreadnought is a must as well..... As for the list as a whole, certainly there are many more ships I would like to see (SMS Blucher, HMS Tiger, HMS Courageous, etc), but I think as a basis to work from, it provides a good overview of all the 'main players!'

The Viribus Unitis if only. What an ubelievable ship design to ask for !! Again here we go... WWI ships again to be released !! You need to go to this site www.viribusunitus.ca and check it out. Any problems let me know. What a georgeous ship only three of them and two in existence ..... break out the dive gear.

Someone really should start fill this massive hole in ship models, along with the pre-WW I stuff. Though there is a slew of these ships on my "wish there were" list, I limit my post to the one at the top of the list:

I'd love to see the HMS Engadine. A display with a 1/72 scale Short 184 seaplane and a 1/350 or 1/720 (or 1/700) HMS Engadine would be a great way to capture a piece of WWI Battle of Jutland history.

Well.... I gotta say there are a heckuva lot of other ships i would like to see before the HMS Engadine (HMS Furious, for instance!!)!! What about HMS Tiger? What about SMS Von Der Tann?? What about a few destroyers????

Seriously? What do you have against Engadine? Personally, I think the origins of naval aviation are fascinating -- especially when one of the subjects was involved in the largest naval battle of the Great War.

That's not to say that Furious or Lion or Queen Mary wouldn't make great models.

I get this in almost every thread I start... Yes, Engadine would be of interest EVENTUALLY.... But there are so many more truly SIGNIICANT ships that really deserve priority first!! HMS Engadine was a coverted FERRY fer chrissakes, and did next to nothing in the whole war... If you are big on aviation, why wouldn't we want to see something like a HMS Renown with a launching platform off the turrets, or HMS Furious with a launching platform and an 18" gun aft FIRST? It is all about priorities here! Keep it simple, keep it clear for the model manufacturers!

Some good stuff here, but did you know you can already get the SMS Koenig and Grosser Kurfurst in 1/350? ICM makes them and they are available for about $40-$50 a pop....

De nada.... You can probably pick up a cheap Koenig, Markgraf, or Grosser Kurfurst over on Ebay for cheap money (pretty good kit too!)
