I have just acquired the following from eBay:
Revell Germany USS Constitution - the box states a © date of 1980. The © notice on the instructions does not specify a date, just a code: H-5600-3800. The code on the box is also 5600.
No scale is given, however the kit is stated as being 22" long. This is obviously the length over the bowsprit as the hull length is 16.5". The main deck has the cannon carriages moulded on, as does the gundeck. The latter however, is short, holding just 10 cannon. This means that the hull has five gun ports open per side, with the rest being moulded shut.
From a recent thread here, I am assuming that this is one of the "Quick Build" series that Revell brought out, however I would appreciate some confirmation & detail on that.
I deliberately bought a 30 year old model as I hoped that, having been produced on moulds which are 30 years younger than todays, there would be better detail & less flash. Well, the detail looks just fine, however I have several evenings work ahead of me removing flash & moulding points before I can even begin to think about putting bits together!!
