Revell's Post-WWII German destroyer v. Lindberg's

Can anyone tell me: are these two kits one-in-the-same?

Edit (I just noticed that there's only two letters demarking that thin line between "edit" and "idiot"): The Revell kit is tricked out with lots of different rigging and what not. My interest focuses primarily on the hull and super.

The scale declarations are different, of course. But the hull lengths, base on mealy-mouthed descriptions, are quite similar.

Are you talking about the RoG 1:144 scale Fletcher transferred to the West German Navy post-WWII compared to the 1:125 scale Lindberg Blue Devil destroyer, also a Fletcher-class?

The Lindberg kit is wrong in so many ways from hull to superstructure to armament.    It has broken many modelers, including some who ignored the advice they were given.   See Jeff Herne's article on SteelNavy describing what he did to master the kit.  http://www.steelnavy.com/BDFletcher.htm  Its titled 'Trial by Ordeal' to give you an appreciation.    And don't call Herne mealy mouthed.

The Revell kit is state of the art.   Shapes are accurate.  Scale is accurate.   The model as kitted for the German Navy represents a single post-war evolution.   One of the 5-inch gun housesis deleted,  different secondary gun layout from the WWII standard,  windscreen around the round bridge.

If you want to do a USN model opt for the original Fletcher with all five 5-inch gunhouses.   Even the, out of the box it will only represent a couple of ships in the class from a limited time period.  Aftermarket is available to expand your options.  

The Revell is much recommended over the Lindberg.

I have a copy of Herne's article in my file for the Lindberg build (right next to the belt sander and cutting torch).

I was a "tin can" sailor myself and these larger scale renderings really interest me. Seems like Destroyers came out of the yards looking different with each visit, and frequently got modified between full yard overhauls. It could lead to some swell arguments about which month a particular configuration represents. (LOL)

I wanted you to know that I acted on your advice and sometime during the first quarter of the century will be receiving the Revell kit.

If it doesn't come out right, I will loudly and publicly declare it your fault.
