I was honestly a little reluctant to post this one as it has stalled many times since it began like many of my builds do. This is Dragons Premium Tirpitz (the one without the DS styrene bits). I used a Gator Mask for the intricate camo scheme. About drove me nuts. The paints are all MM acrylics. Got some work on the boot stripe which I basically havent even started yet so kinda ignore that area please. The lower hull is molded in 2 halves both of which were extremely warped and twisted about every which direction you could imagine in my kit. The upper hull and a very bad upwards bow right in the middle of it. I cut some very thick sheet stryen and glued it into the bottom to stiffen and straighten it out as the kit comes with no bracing there.
Camera was acting all stupid ( or it could have very well been the user) so sorry for the poor pics.

Looks Good there Jester. You should move up to 1/350 it helps with the headaches on that paint schemes.

Yeah, you should definitely check out Gators Masks as that is where I got the precut vinyl mask for this build. Worked great and it wasn't so tacky that it pulled up paint either and I used MM acrylics only.

Thanks for the comments, the scheme was a tough one but it really looks cool!! The MM colors that I used are basically flat white for the bow and stern. Flat Gull Gray for the lighter gray and a mixture of about 50/50 flat black/flat gull gray for the darker stripes. Pretty happy with how they came out I guess. Just wondering if I need to knock down the contrast a bit with a mist coat or leave it as is. Thoughts??

Well I'm no ship guy, but I'd be tempted to give it a light misting, if for no other reason than to knock the black down a tad. (Easy for me to say - you'll be doing the work!
Looks very good as-is though.

I'd leave as is and maybe give the entire ship a dry-brushing with a very soft, wide and flat brush----wipe the paint off until you see none and give it a once-over---gotta make sure you thouroughly get the paint off of the brush first, otherwise you'll ruin the finish---especially in that scale...
Hmmmm...maybe misting would be a better approach, but anything in that scale is gonna be tricky if it isn't done in an extremely subtle way...
Well I'm back with an overdue update to this baby. Deck color down and some detail painting on the deck fixtures. Got the primary color on all the secondary and tertiary batteries, will come back with some masking to match the splinter. Getting closer and closer to PE and some rigging on this one, ready to put it away in the books and be done with the old gal!!! Thanks for taking a gander, all comments are welcome!!
Looking good...deck color is very nice and the various fittings are coming to life. Not sure I've ever seen this camo done in 700th scale before...

Lol, thanks Manny and Eric!! Starting to get a little more motivated and get this one done. Started on the pe railings and decided to paint them after they are attached. This may be a decision that comes back to haunt me but oh well, live and learn!! One thing I will say, this is my first use of Gator Glue for attaching pe and it absolutely rocks!!!!!!!
Building the same. How do you find the kit PE? Foil like thinness..the superstructure sidewall details are at least 0.5mm too big height-wise compared to the kit part...

Thanks guys!! Except for the superstructure sidewalls, I really like the pe. The railings are pretty sharp, thin enough to get good bends and not fight it like Eduard pe for 700th ships. Your right about the sidewalls, they are a bit to tall and I think they would have been better off just molding the details in styrene (normal styrene, not DS styrene).
Maybe you will finish this MOJO after all...

Been one hella long update but this one is pretty much getting put on the shelf and called done. Glad to finally wrap this one up and on to something in a much larger scale, lol. Not sure if the rigging is 100% correct as I just kinda put where I thought it looked right using the box top as a sorta guide. My wifes fine hair was used for rigging. One of the worst parts of the whole build was trying to line up the 3 different layers of decal that make up the swastika on the stern. REEEDICULOUS!!!!! Anyways, it may not be the best rendition of the Tirpitz in this scale but I am pleased with it as a first fully completed 1/700th scale warship. Thanks for peeking and Im open to any and all comments, good or bad!!
