Greetings fellow modelers! I've been working away on this kit and I thought I'd share my progress with you guys. Starting with the hull which is split at the waterline in typical Trumpeter fashion I encountered typical Trumpeter fit problems. Sanding sticks to the rescue:
I masked the bow stripes with very thin strips of Tamiya tape - love that stuff!. As the deck was drying I masked the hull for the camo pattern:
Deck and hull fitted:
Next I began the main batteries. I painted, washed and dry brushed the turrets after assembly, and the added the life rafts:
Mounted on their barbettes:
The upper works were next. I got the stacks and bridge layers assembled, painted, and washed then attached them to the deck:
Moving my way up more details were added. Platforms, gun tubs, searchlights, etc.. were added. I also started the rigging:
I got the base plate done as well:
Here is the upper works glued on to the hull:
