Regarding your statement, "We got the grand tour of the cruiser from a Jr. officer fresh out of the
academy. She was in charge of communications and crew morale," I guess things have changed in the decades since I was in the Navy. I might be getting old, but I clearly remember being taught that the commanding officer was also the unit's morale officer, and that was one responsibility in particular the C.O. could not delegate.
Or maybe my memory really is playing me false.
Can someone enlighten me about the modern Navy?
