Detail set for Missouri 1/450
Posted by Shaun34 on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 5:05 PM

Hello every one,

Years ago I purchased the Hasegawa 1/450 Famous Ships U.S.S. Missouri, and now am getting around to want to begin work on it.  But as many of you may know about this particular kit, it needs some strong detail  work, and was wondering if there are any 1/450 sets for this particular kit or that would work with this kit. I've been searching the net, but haven't found anything for this one. Gold Metal Models has one for the Akagi . If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be grateful.  Thankyou all.

Keep the Faith, and keep building.  Shaun

There is 1/450 USN railing from Eduard. I may have some if you do not find any.

The GMM 500 naval set may work as well.

It is best to use smaller scale pe on a ship if there is no pe available as in 1/480 or 1/450.

The 1/426 Arizona set may also work as it has a number of items to use.

Note you can  use solid borders on a pe fret to make much thinner gun tub walls and splinter shields. Looks much nicer than  thick castings.

I a building and reworking a Fujimi 1/450 Haruna and note the GMM 1/500 IJN BB set matches perfectly.

Type meant so say "....as in 1/480 or 1/500"

BTW Arizona 1/429 is a smidge large but does include doors, older style catapults, etc.

Thankyou So much Felix,

Your advice about using smaller scale pe sounds like a good idea. In the end, If I do get the 'MO finished I may have to use a combination of things to complete it. Improvising, is after all a part of this hobby . You've given me some directions to go in, and once again I really appreciate your response.

Peace be with you all .      Shaun
