So I got the rigging for the front of the mast but I'm having a tough time with detail for the cables that go to the rear from the lower yard arm, Any pics of this. Most shots on the web don't have enough detail.
bondoman It's black, but so thin it's not really easy to see. It scales about 3/4" thick at 1/350, which is as close as I can find to the real thing

Digital calipers these days are very cheap. The monofilament I buy is 7 mil in diameter. Still, at jet black, it would tend to be more visible. Even at 350 scale it should be barely visible. You might try a touch of brown magic marker, or even see what happens if you put some white marker on it. If it turns white, that is no good- white looks as bad as pure black. But if the white tints it gray, that would be a good result.

I would not use black for 1:350. Both black and white threads stand out and create a high contrast- that is, they appear larger than they really are. You need a medium grey. Hard to find in a monofilament. I'd use the clear. Consider trying to color it. I have successfully colored the clear mono thread with magic markers. Grey is a hard marker color to find, however. I have used a medium brown with some success on modern 350 scale ships. In 1:700 there is no question, use the clear. But in 1:350 it is a more difficult question.
Been reading quite a bit on this. My question is do I use clear or black nylon mono filament for my 1/350 Burke.
