Actual built size of the 96 Constitution ?

Bambam-

Yes, acrylic is a good material for display cases (especially Larger ones!)....and that may be my choice if I end up going with a kit that big....my original question was just so I could find out if the case I already have would accommodate it. Turns out, even in acrylic, the cost of material for a case to fit the 1/96 connie would be approximately 300 $US....for those kind of duckets, I'll probably keep my eyes out for a kit that I really, really like....the connie's great, but I think I might even go into something wooden....like I said, if I have to spend hundreds to get a case, I want to display a kit that means a lot to me....

Dear David,

With all respect, wy don't you put the kit in an acrilic box? The kit is big and with the wood base will become very heavy, bot with acrilic sould be a bit slight and less dangerous. I have bouth Constitution and Victory builted in an acrilic redoma at the wall and some times for cleaning I have to put down and it would be very dificult if it was inside of a glass.

Thanks for the help, anyway....I hope to build a kit that big one day, but man!.... the cost of a display case is more intimidating than the build!! :)

Looks like I'm out of luck for the Connie...too bad, because Amazon has it on sale for $55....I think there's only a couple left at that price.

Guess I'll just keep working on my Wasa, and hope the right kit comes along once I'm done!

Boy what timing! David, Yesterday a Constitution was dropped off to be put into a case.

The actual finished dimensions are exactly 35 3/8" long, jib boom to end of the spanker.

Height sitting the little plastic base is 25 1/2" tall

width is 13" at the main yard measured to include the stun sail booms which happen to stick out beyond the main by about an inch port and starboard.

I don't believe your case will work, Sorry. The case I'm building will be 40" long , 27" tall and 16" wide.

Mine isn't totally done but it's 33 7/8 long. I only have the foremast up and it's about 27 tall without any stand or base under it so I'd say your case is too small in both dimensions.
