There are of course a number of models of the HMS Victory out there, which, while not a frigate, are at least of the era you mention.  Heller has the french Le Superbe- again a larger ship but of the era.  The Revell Constitution is a great kit, and is a frigate of the right era.

If you want to get into wooden ships, there are a greater number of frigates, but finding discontinued kits is daunting- they didn't produce in the large quantities of plastic kits, and the price is frequently quite high for what you get.  Good to seek advice on specific European wooden kits.

Leelan,

Welcome to the wonderful world of sailing ship modeling!  As you have seen, there are good, solid kits out there but there are also some duds as well.  There are many of us who are quite willing to help in any way we can, and we love to discuss sailing ships.  Welcome aboard!

After posting several threads to this part of the forum I guess it is time to introduce myself.

I am 51 years old and have been modeling most of my life. In my younger, single and carefree days I indulged in buying lots of resin kits and HUGE kits of spaceships and submarines that I still don't have space to build or display them. Now that I am very happily married (NO, this is not a paid or coerced announcement --- I really really mean it, I am a very lucky man) I have to be more responsible and choose my projects more carefully.

I don't have many of my finished models on the web. But here are a few examples:

I have an ongoing dream project, a 72 scale Jules Verne NAUTILUS:

But lately I have seen several excellent examples of tall ship models online. And I want one! Stick out tongue

I read Forester's Horatio Hornblower series in college and loved them! Ever since then I have had a itch to build the Lydia from Beat to Quarters. I think now is the time.

I could use some advice and this seems the place to get it. Thank you all for the help you have been and in advance for all the help to come!
