WW1 anchor buoy

I want to display my Dreadnought anchored to an anchor buoy.  What did an anchor buoy look like in that time period. If I search google images for anchor buoys I get lots of shapes- if I restrict it to WW1 anchor buoys I don't find many images showing much.

I immediately think of Scapa Flow, probably the most famous WW1 anchorage as both fleets anchored there...

Here's the Kronprinz Wilhelm.

Kind of a barrel shaped affair.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I believe the proper term is mooring buoy. An anchor buoy is a float attached to an anchor so you can see where it is underwater. I remember the mooring buoys in the harbors at Malta and Venice being as shown in the pictures. I suppose the design has been around since at least WWI.

Thanks, Guys! That is all I need to finish her.  Maybe finish today or tomorrow.  I can turn that shape on the end of a plastic rod, paint it and attach to base.
