I actually used the rig for the shrouds, but added like ten coates of glue on each shroud lol and 2 coats of black paint on each shroud as well :)
Nice to see it finished and that you got the shrouds worked out. It looks great!
Very nice, Yoseep. Good painting and no visible glue. Much, much better than my first model. Keep 'em coming!

Revell issued a new kit of the Vasa in 1/150th scale a couple of years back with the halp of the Vasa Museum. It looks quite accurate out of the box compared with the Airfix kit from the 70's. However, I was quite surprised to see that the detailing of the numerous carvings on the Airfix kit was a lot sharper than on the Revell kit.
I just google 'making model water' and got some great hits. Maybe that will help you get there.
Glad you found a solution that works for you. Would like to see you post the results.
Oh, btw, ive seen that some people even put theyr ships into some kind of a solid "simulation" of sea or ocean with waves and everything, can someone tell me how they do that? Off course i dont want to use the real water lol
I tried a basecoat of tan on a little piece of the sails plastic and it really gives them the authentic colour, ill go with tan only! Thanks
I used flat white and then highlights w/ deck tan. You might want to look at my Pamir to give you an idea.

When I have used plastic sails, I give them a basecoat of Tan, and then hit them with some overspray blotches of Dark Tan...

Hey guys, any advice on what to do with the sails to give them a more authentic colour? They are snow-white right now and from plastic as well
Ha! Especially when, from what I understand, the king was warned repeatedly by the builder that it was not fit for sailing...I believe no one was ever held responsible for it....because it was the King's fault!
Don Stauffer It was a fair time later than launching. It was saililng out of the harbor, after fitting and such. It was its first real sail. I have heard of ships turning turtle during launch but the Vasa survived launch but not first voyage.

And of course, imagine explaining to the king exactly why the ship sank so quickly!
"Whaddya mean 'Who's flying the plane?!' Nobody's flying the plane!"
This should work

I really want to see these pics, but I can't make the links work.
here are the most recent pics of the project. Needs only a few more shrouds, strings, sails and the cannons. Had some real trouble and wasted some time with the shrouds and the way to make them but it worked out.

Yeah thats the one
Is that the ship that sank right the instant it was launched?
I sent you a PM. Ask a way! also you can post your questions here as there is a wealth of knowledge here. I made my own shrouds when I built mine. i also didn't use the the plastic jig for making the shrouds. I did it all on the kit.
here is a link for the build that I did.

also here is a good link for research that i used when i built mine.

Err painting the hull? The hulll is painted......cant you see?
No, that is why I asked. But if it is painted, I stand corrected.
Looks like you are off to a really fine start, especially for never having built a model before. (my first ever was the Airfix Cutty Sark) Looking forward to further posts of your progress.
PS
for posting pics use the code for "direct link for layouts" as I took the liberty to do so below.
Nice detail work there. Are you thinking about painting the hull?
Dont know why but it added only the first pic
