Thanks Gents. The Hull is now together. Upon research, The Water outlets were in the wrong position. I removed them and redrilled them in the right positions. The Exhaust Outlets and Water Intakes were moulded solid. I drilled them out and backed them to negate the see through effect. Will have some more shortly.....Cheers Mark

Looking good so far. How good is the PE I've never used any of Griffons sets before?

Nice work so far. I will make a note of those water outlets.

I got the PE set yesterday, boy there's a lot there. I've not used one of their sets before either, but it looks pretty nice, just a bit crowded on the frets.

I thought about opening the exhaust ports on the kit I had.  I had no idea they were in the wrong place, but ended up leaving them alone, assembling my kit mostly OOB.  It's just as well, though, because the boat crashed to the ground after getting caught on a cleaning rag when the wife was in a pre-holiday cleaning frenzy.  Most of the parts are in a pan waiting for repair, but I have other projects in the queue right now, so the wreckage gathers dust on a table.

Looking awesome! I'm glad you're choosing to modify details about the model. In a way, it makes it your own. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Thanks for the comments Gents much appreciated. The P/E is not for the Feint-Hearted, There is a lot of Surgery to do to the kit. Patience and some good Magnifiers really come in handy. OK on to the next stich is the Skullcap. You need to remove a fair amount of Plastic for their P/E replacement. What they do supply is superb. Here are the before and after shots of the Skullcap. More to come soon.....Cheers mark

Is this a bigger or lesser PITA compared to 1/350 PE?

Thanks Gents for looking in. P/E in any Scale can be a pain but depends on what Kit you are working on and the quality of the P/E. You pays your money and make your choice.....Cheers mark

I have this boat in 1/350 scale along with a P.E. kit.  I should have twice the fun you are having.

The PE does look nice and adds some great detail. What your view on the quality of this PE set.

Mcbean, did you mean 35th scale.

No, I have the 1/350 scale S100 Class Schnellboat by Trumpeter.  The PE set I believe is from White Ensign.  It is sitting in my stash for now.  The hull looks to be just under four inches.

Thanks Gents. The P/E is superb but some of it is so small I wonder why they did it in the first place.....Cheers Mark

Mark,

She is looking great!  I have the /Flak38 version and was thinking of picking up the standard Griffon PE and buy the metal torpedoes separately but when I asked my LHS to order them they said they are no longer available so it's off to evilBay I must go......

Thanks for posting your progress it is inspiring as well as just plain cool.

I recall there is an issue with the props not being accurate on this kit. Does Griffon provide replacement props?

Felix the Set does not provide replacement Props but almost everything else is there. OK the Torp Racks have now ben done and what a PITA they were. Each one has 26 P/E parts for each Rack. Also detailed 2 Ammo and Storage Bins. Will have more soon.....Cheers Mark

Some more lovely work here. Looks like there's a lot of work in this, but I am sure the end result will be worth it.

Felix, I haven't been able to find any AM props specifically for this kit.
