USS Wisconsin 1/700

If that is your first attempt, I am looking forward to your next, a really nice job.  I haven't done one on water yet so if this is your first then there is hope for me.

What did you use for the water?

Nicely done, a beaut for a first go round.   Water is very nice.

Thanks all, The water is a base of mod podge, then once that was dry I used Liquitex gloss heavy medium.

Great looking job.  I am trying to work on a 1/700 USS  New Jersey in her 1990's mod look also.  I am having a hard time with the deck colors, especially the wood.  Also, I am trying to use PE rails on this kit but it has been a battle.  If you could give me ideas on how you got the deck to look so good, and if anyone could give me some ideas on the PE railings, I would appreciate it.  Lenny

Thanks Navy, for the deck I used a basecoat of Tamiya dessert yellow (XF-59) I then sealed it with some future and then gave it a brown wash, then Flat coat. You are a braver man than me attempting the PE in 1/700 scale.

Thanks all, I am currently working on the old pit road 1/700 krivack frigates. I scored 6 of them for 5 bucks at my last club meeting. They are definateley tiny!

those krivacks are not too small the come in at 6.9 in long almost 1 in bigger than most destryors of that scale  ifyou want tiny try tamiya's transport/ aux supply set they are 2 to 3 in long

From A-Z.  Getting the railing set in place, stand erect, and being able to connect pieces together.  I am using white glue to attach the railings to the deck.  Lenny

Work with smaller pieces if it helps. Don't have to do the whole deck in one run if it's etched that way. Most of the time if you look at pictures the things are pretty discontinuous where they intercept mooring bitts, gun tubs, accomodation ladders and just general deck edge stuff.

I also prefer to bend a corner into a piece and keep the joints in the straight run part. but everyone has their own methods. That way they stand up on their own.
