TRIBAL class HMS Ashanti -- The old Revell 1/720 kit

Pulled out the old Revell 1/720 HMS Ark Royal, and thought I'd first polish off its in-box companion, the somewhat crude TRIBAL class DD. The WEM photo-etch set supplied  the aft searchlight platform, davits and yardarms, while the quad guns and rails came from 1/700 etch spares. Rigging is stretched sprue. Color scheme borrowed from photos of Phil Reeder's larger-scale (and much finer) model online, based on a well-known photograph of Ashanti laying off the Icelandic coast.

Hope you enjoy it.

Good looking  build Greg. I thought it was much bigger until I saw the penny. Now I'm really impressed.

Thanks for sharing.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Kind of incredible camouflage. That Ark Royal kit remains the one and only good one out there of what is probably the most important aircraft carrier in WW2, or at least on a level with the Pearl Harbor carriers. And the first for decades in plastic.

Oh how I wish there could be one in 1/350.

Really a special build on the destroyer.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Great job, especially given  the overall quality of the kit!  Impressive!

Didn't realize how tiny it was, I am even more impressed. Very nice!

Thanks for the kind thoughts, Gents. I'll try to post the Ark Royal when she's completed.
