Just have to add a few more details to the island. Finish work on the starboard side that also includes the #2 elevator.

Distance to the horizon from a 65' observation altittude is only about 10 miles.  Perhaps 25 miles for high-altitude aircraft.

600 mph Air-to-surface missile covers 10 miles per minute; two minutes to identify, target, and launch interception missiles is not exactly generous.  Whhich is also why your SAM have to be abel to get up to around 1200 mph to be effective.

Carrier airborne early warning can reach out around 300 miles with little effort, which give plenty of time to sortie aircraft with much longer ranges, or send the CAP over to investigate.  Which neatly fits the 25-35 mile circle the Carrier Battle Group is in, too.

For a ship like that it sure doesn't seem like much of a defense.  I take it the rest of the ships in her group were more heavilly armed.

Yes the escorts provided some defense, but her primary defense was her air group

Always liked this version of the Enterprise.  I remember Monogram came out with a model of it way back when the ship was new.

That's a lot of work, keep it up, it looks good so far.

What are you going to do about its defensive weapons?  There had to be changes during the modifications to its current look.
