No idea on a PDF format.  IIRC it was around 15.00 + postage.  Some decent photos of different boats, with the different details during the war, and line drawings of the various fit of guns.  For me and my interest in the fleet boats, it was worth it.  Your mileage may vary

Squadron Signal, Warships #28,  Gato class submarines in action.  #4028.  Available from Squadron.  Plenty of pics, but that was the only one of Harder.

Gives a brief overview of the P and Sargo/Salmons them after the Gato's goes into the Balao's and then the various conversions after the war, ie. the various "Guppy's"

What book, where? Online somewhere or?

There is a pic of Harder taken on 19 Feb 1944 in post refit trials in the Squadron Gato in action booklet (pg15)  that shows no limber holes down the side.  Also need to know where she was built, as EB and Navy Yard builds differed in limber hole locations and numbers.

Dealy is another of the very agressive captains of the day.  Ranks right there with O'Kane and Morton.  His 5 destroyer patrol is legend.

Revell Gato sub is in 1/180 . This kit has been in my stash for about 15 years over some time I looked at it close up put back on the shelf . I guess it's time to build it lol 

I just got the Revell 1/180 - Lionfish kit. Except the Lionfish was a Balao. I was hoping to build the kit as the USS Harder - but the Revell kit has triple rows of limber holes where the Gato/Harder (and others I'd like to copy) have just a single row.

I could attempt to sand flat the mold marks for the holes and creat my own but geez.....I was hoping to finish this year!

Nice article.  They sure made use of the cutting torches during the war to get the silouetes down.  In the pics I've seen of 238 coming into Pearl, Feb. '43 she has the nav bridge housing cut down for a 20mm mount forward, but the bridge has not been cut down, and apparently never got that mod before her loss.  The Trumpeter '44 kit has the right fairwater configuration for her at that time frame, at least that saves some work.

The 1/72 I have will also be done as SS 238 , but will be on finials and mounted on oak in a case, with a brass plate-----  USS Wahoo - SS 238 - On Eternal Patrol - 11 October 1943.

I ordered a Gato 1941, PE, a 3" gun and a bunch of torpedoes. I won't start my build anytime soon, but will be following.

Morton's XO *** O'Kane went on to command Tang, and survived her sinking.

Another Mare Island boat on Eternal Patrol.

Submarines are not usually of major modeling interest to me but in this case I'm going to follow along simply because the quote is from 3 days before I was born and Lieutenant Commander Morton's sense of humor ranks him up there in my estimation. 

the sail on this sub dosent match any Gato or Balao sub in service.but its ok lol

GM-  not in my lifetime this go around or even the next.  Don't have that kind talent, and for sure not the patience.

H- the Trumpy has very little flash and only a couple of rough edges on the some of the bigger pieces so far. Had to clean up about 10 of the smaller of the limber holes. Pin marks appear to be in hidden areas so far.  I would rate it a 9.2 out of 10 as far and moulding issues.  Have not seen the Revell offering in 1/200.

looks good I ordered this same kit to comparing it to the Revell Gato in 1/200 lol no comparison! But lm going to build it anyway I will be watching
