I finally got a chance to move Jimmy over a tad to line up better with the photos and remove a little of the nosewheel guide stripe from the bow.

A small left turn after lift off so as not to be run over by the ship in the event of a ditching. They lifted off well below Vmc ( minimun control speed with one engine out and the other at takeoff power ) so if one donkey resigned closing the throttle of the remaining engine and ditching may have been the only option.

Yes, he's a little to the starboard on that takeoff. I need to move him over a tad to port. Shouldn't be too much of a problem.

It Looks to represent Lt.Col. Doolittle taking off just as the Bow dipped into the Sea. Great detail!
Some other details ...
I noticed the B-25 taking off seems to be a bit closer to the Starboard side then I would expect.  I thought the smaller of the 2 White lines was for the Front Wheel to be lined up on during take-off to ensure they cleared the Island.  The Pictures appear to show the Bomber was not lined up on the Line. Could be the photo's perspective fools my eye. I also thought the Smaller White line did not continue as far to the Bow like the Wider Line. Note that I have yet to build a CV and never a Sea-Scape! Yours is spectacular.

Your Hornet is absolutely amazing! I'm talking eye popping, jaw dropping amazing. I really do love your work and the more I see it the more I get inspired to get real with getting out one of my ship models and giving it a go. Thank You so much for sharing your pics and your techniques.

GM, I never tried silicone, but when I started researching how to create water it was clear (no pun intended) that it was not the way to go. I ran across a few build that used the acrylic gel, tries it myself and was sold.

Information on how to make water on the internet for scale ships is nigh impossible to find.

I will be doing a YouTube video how to do it sometime soon.

it hasn't come up here in a while, but modelers often tried silicone sealant. That's not nearly as successful.

Look for Liquitex or Golden Gel Medium in craft stores. I go over the whole surface with acrylic varnish for shine and depth.

this might seem like an idiotic question goldhammer , but acrylic gel ? when I try to google it all I get is finger nail stuff , is there a specific brand you use? .

Got 3 pictures in B&W from CAF, looking for donations.  Think I'll send them on to you.  Show Hornet and aircraft, along with the camo pattern. Will give some provenance to you build.  I still have you addy in my PM box.
